Overview

City of London Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, arty home in the cool of the celebrated Barbican

Straight lines

Great architecture has little to do with twee Victorian terraces and everything to do with gritty urban jungles. If you don’t believe us, may we present the concrete proof. An awesome Brutalist sight, Fore Street surges suddenly and hugely against the skyline, impossible to ignore. Especially so when it harbours homes like this. With its effortless edginess, Bauhaus influences and industrial touches, including a scaffolding-style bed, this home is creative and seriously cool. Outside may be jagged, but inside the sofas couldn’t be smoother, nor the balcony view more splendid. Fore Street itself is a byword for culture and arts, while the City is as close as it gets…

A modern vision

A freelance creative director, your Canadian host’s eye for style is in stunning evidence throughout his home. He loves Fore Street for its history and buzz, as well as Berlin – where he often travels to visit his partner.

Looking up

With its many mazy walkways and lovely lakes, Fore Street is the kind of place you wouldn’t mind being lost in. But begin your cultural journey in this home. The sitting room is at once cool and cosy, its sofa in soft grey and walls enlivened with Bauhaus-styled shelves. Kick back with a book, or slide onto the balcony with your morning coffee. You’ve a round dining table for six, as well as a home office for those who catch the study bug. The kitchen is spacious in white and grey, letting you be as creative as you want for dinner.

You’ve another desk and framed prints in the hallway, as well as a nifty cloakroom peppered with artwork. The bedroom is bright with daylight and eclectically furnished. With its ornate gilt mirror on one side and a four poster king bed of scaffolding, it will turns heads as surely as it rests them. The bathroom is tiled in white and tricked out with our fluffy towels.

The future

As well as being the largest performing arts centre in Europe, Fore Street itself boasts a library, three restaurants and school for music. But do find the time to leave, since there’s gazillions more to do around here. Brush up on your city lore in the Museum of London, shop in snazzy shopping centre One New Change, or amble across the river to the Tate Modern. The tube from Moorgate to Oxford Circus takes a quick ten minutes.

This home is in the iconic Barbican complex which is an example of the Brutalist architectural movement. The complex might not be to everyone's taste. This home does not have a TV. This home does not have a washing machine. This home has a very efficient centrally managed heating system, there is no control from inside the flat, but it should never pose a problem. The curtains in the bedroom are quite airy, so do not block out the daylight.
