Great Location and a great 4 bedroom rental

This beach house rental is in an ideal location for Beach Haven lovers! This house is rented as a 6 bedroom rental however, 2 of those bedrooms are located in the ground floor basement. The basement was musty and damp and the bedrooms down there had a terrible smell to them. There is a dark additional family room down there that would be great if you had teenagers. The four bedrooms located on the second and third floor were very bright, airy, and comfortable. The kitchen was nicely equipped and the family room provided adequate seating for family games! The appearance of the property was well maintained, but the cleaning service did a lousy job of cleaning up from the previous tennants. Location on the beach block was excellent for having kids, however, there was no lifeguard post at the end of the street. You had to walk over to the right to be in a swimming zone. The local amusement park was only 3 blocks away which again, was perfect for ahving young children. Overall a great rental. I would not put kids or adults in basement bedrooms, probably only teenagers!
Owner's Response: We always appreciate getting feedback from our guests, thank you so much. In regards to the basement many of our guests have liked having this added space. Therefore we connected the central Air Conditioning to the basement which we thought would help with dampness and musty smells. Since there is not a bathroom in the basement only quick access to the outside shower and a sink in the laudryroom this does not make this area an ideal setting for the elderly or young children unsupervised. This area has been reported to us to have worked well for teenagers or a family member with their small child.
As for the cleaning crew,we have used several on the Island over the years. We do find the crews do a much better job if the previous tenants were helpful in cleaning up after themselves. When tennants leave behind a large mess there is only so much that can be done in the 3-4 hour span before the next renters arrive and that is unfortunate. We would ask renters to let us when they arrive if the house is not up to standard and we will work to rectify the situation. This way we get feedback to the cleaning crew as to their performance as well.
