Overview

Waikoloa Village House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Office, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

This custom designed house is located in a quiet neighborhood of Waikoloa Village on the Big Island of Hawaii. The house has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a half bathroom, and an office, which includes a daybed and can be used as a fourth bedroom.

The distinctive features of the house are clear-stained solid cedar walls and open beam ceilings, and a large number of windows oriented to the ocean and mountain views; the high ceilings produce an expansive and airy effect in a floor plan that covers 2400 square feet under roof, including a large lanai. The house is comfortably furnished with predominantly Scandinavian-designed furniture. The interior decoration includes a large array of pictures and objects of art from Hawaii and California, as well as Japan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, and Russia. The yard is landscaped in a style with Japanese garden features.

Waikoloa Village is situated on the northwest side of the Big Island on the slopes above the famous Kohala Gold Coast resorts, white sand beaches and championship golf courses. The Village is conveniently located within a 20-minute drive to the Big Island's most luxurious resorts (Mauna Kea Beach, Hapuna Beach Prince, Mauna Lani Bay, Hilton Waikoloa and the Fairmont Orchid), and to world class beaches (Mauna Kea Beach and Hapuna Beach). Recreational activities in the Village include a famous 18-hole golf course, swimming pool and tennis courts. The Village has a shopping complex with a full service market, service station, restaurants, banks and shops. Guests have free access to the swimming pool and tennis courts, and can get discounted green fees for the par-72 Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed course.

Good but not 5 stars

We chose this place due to its published reviews. We planned a Christmas trip with our adult children and mother-in-law. We encountered a number of problems from the start. There were fresh rodent droppings in several of the rooms, and the creatures also made noise during the nights. The alarm system chose to go off several times during our stay- we were able to silence it but just leaving it off didn't work and the instructions for use vague. The listing indicated DVD and CD player so we took a number of Christmas movies and music. We were told the system had been broken and was being replaced. The second week someone came and installed a receiver so now we had radio, but never did get a DVD or CD player. The toilets also had some problems. One had an internal leak so it ran all night. We reported it and it got repaired a week later. The same toilet had the hinge on the seat fall apart. I reported it and used duct tape to hold it in place, but it never did get repaired during our stay. The management company personnel were nice but were unable to resolve a number of issues. The location is good for exploring the northern end of the Big Island. However it is a 10 minute drive to the nearest beach and almost an hour from Kona. Based on our experience I have a hard time recommending this house.

Owner's Response: The four problems described are acknowledged to have occurred. The droppings and noise are caused by geckos which manage to enter the house; a contractor will be hired to seal all entry points. The "chirping" of the security alarm system on two occasions indicates that the back-up battery may need to be replaced; the battery will be inspected and replaced, if necessary. The DVD/CD stereo unit was replaced during the guest's stay but unfortunately, we were sent a receiver, instead of the unit that was ordered; the receiver will be replaced by a DVD/CD unit within the month. We were remiss in not ensuring that repairs for the "running" sounds from a toilet and a broken toilet seat hinge were made in a timely manner. We thanked the reviewer for bringing these issues to our attention, and will renew our commitment to ensure reports of problems are promptly addressed and resolved.

Enchanted by Big Island

  • 5 of 5

“Fly today, remember for ever” is one of the advertising slogans inviting visitors to visit Big Island of Hawaii archipelago. I wholeheartedly concur. This was my first stay at the Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. We stayed in a vacation house. The choice of the location could not have been better. The Waikoloa Village is perfectly situated in the middle of Kona/Kohala area, the northwestern part of the island. We absolutely loved our stay and were charmed by it. Our vacation house on Pu’u Nui has all expected amenities. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. There are a number of options for entertainment in this (northwestern) coast area of the Big Island. One might easily choose to frequent hotel resorts on the coast such as the Mauna Lani, Marriot Waikoloa, Hilton, Fairmont Orchid, Four Season, etc. day-by-day, but for the curious travelers who want to take fool advantage of the Kohala coast nature, and indeed to explore the Big Island in its native state, the staying in a specious vacation home such as the one at Waikoloa Village is an ideal base for the Big Island exploration.

The beaches of the Kohala coast are very safe and a good for snorkeling. There are other beaches at walking distance. We spent a great time at Hapuna beach spotting the whales. This beach is very nice and peaceful and we watched whales jumping almost daily. We watched beautiful sunsets every evening. There are also numerous trails around everywhere for walking or biking.

If I were to spend time in a Big Island for vacation again, I would probably choose this vacation house again, because I prefer to explore the environment of the island without hindrance of schedules or pre-planned programs. This relaxing, quiet vacation home is ideal for anyone who enjoys a low key, peaceful vacation on this island. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone who is looking to stay in the Waikoloa Village area, as we had a great time in this vacation house. There are three double bad bedrooms, spacious living room, patio, and great kitchen with amenities.

This vacation place offers also membership for access to a local pool and golf course. Tenants can enjoy local golf course, pool and tennis at their convenience. The pool is not the big one, but nice and not too crowded. All three facilities are in convenient walking distance or five minutes drive by car.

Great Stay at Waikoloa Village

  • 5 of 5

Waikoloa place especially this house became for us this year, and the previous year, our second home. Always after the monthly Stay here during winter, we realize how beautiful, comfortable and quiet this place truly is. It is a place where I am always coming back with joy. The beautiful beaches at Hapuna and Mona kea are just a couple of miles away and the music of Pacific is a real the "Rapsody in Blue" for me. It is an ideal place where a person can relax not jus physically but mentally as well. The lava everywhere around radiates a positive energy I appreciate every year coming here.

We are blessed to have such an opportunity to spend a beautiful time in this special home with wonderful neighborhood of Big Island.

Stay of the Gormley Family at Hale O'Waikoloa

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Hale O'Waikoloa for nearly a month this year and once again found it to be the perfect place for a very relaxing and healthy vacation. This modern, spacious and functional home is located within a 20 min drive of beach and shore access to Hawaii's most luxurious resorts(Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Mauna Lani Bay Hotel, The Fairmont Orchid,The Hilton Waikoloa Village and The Hapuna Prince Resort. We walked 3 miles each morning on these beaches and enjoyed the nitely entertainment at these locations. We are of the opinion that this is the greatest place on earth to spend a vacation.

Our family was looking for a vacation home on the Big Island that was spacious, comfortable, had access to local shopping/dining, was centrally located, yet private enough to be very relaxing. WE FOUND IT!

This beautiful home has a very open floor plan, ample storage and amenities, and a great kitchen! Plenty of room for family and friends!!

The home is located in a very quiet neighborhood; the furniture is very comfortable which creates a truly relaxing atmosphere; and, there is access to everthing from local shopping and dining to world class resort dining, amenities, and beaches within only minutes.

Driving access to the major attractions all over the Big Island is made simple by the central location of this property!

Our family can't say enough about how much we enjoyed everything about our stay at Hale O'Waikoloa! We are looking forward to staying again on our next trip to the Big Island!
