Three generations of our family including 6 children, 2 under the age of 1, enjoyed this place for a week. We also hosted an extended family gathering on Sunday while we were there, as my husband and I both come from the area. The main house was spacious enough and well-provisioned. The guest house was perfect for the grandparents and two of the older children. The front porch was awesome. The swimming area was great. We enjoyed the kayaks. All in all, a perfect vacation spot and one that we did not want to leave.

Charming and a good deal for the money.

I've stayed at Camp Treusch five times over the past six years with a group of friends from business school, half from Boston, half from New York, so the location is perfect. It's an old-style New England lake house. As such, expect lots of bare wood, no drywall, and one shower (excluding the one in the guest house). We love it, but if you're looking for that beige, "constructed in 1992" feel, you may want to look elsewhere. The scenery is breathtaking. It gets harder to leave each year!

Perfect Experience!!

  • 5 of 5
This lake house was absolutely perfect for me and my family and friends! We were able to entertain and relax and enjoyed every day we stayed. There were kayaks supplied to take out for a nice morning view, and watching the sun set in their boat house bar is as good as life gets. In addition to having plenty of room, it is a very beautiful lake house. While, of course, the house is old, it is very comfortable and furnished well. We will definitely be back!!!

Perfect Lakehouse Retreat

  • 5 of 5
Had a gathering with a bunch of old college friends and their kids over three days in Sept '12. The lake is beautiful, the porch has a ton of space and great views, the house covers all your needs. It actually is made up of two separate houses and then a furnished boathouse bar down by the dock. Really a great setup and not a bad journey from Boston or New York. I highly recommend it!

Has great stuff but bathrooms need work

  • 3 of 5
The place has a alot of great features. Plenty of room, great house boat bar, fairly good access to clean water, great porch, but the place could be better cleaned and the bathrooms need to be overhauled.

Owner's Response: We don't have a house boat bar, it is a boat house bar. I'm not sure how this is only "fairly good access to clean water", we have 100' of waterfront property with a stone staircase into the lake, a large deck and boathouse rec room built onto the water and a private dock for your boat. Yes, the bathrooms need to be renovated, but why stop there, the entire house needs to be renovated, its a 120 year old lakehouse, and we call it "Camp Treusch", its simple, basic and user friendly. It is definitely not a 5 star hotel room. If you are looking for a new polished house, this is not the house. However, I do take issue with the cleanliness, i have a great housekeeper and caretaker who come to the house to check on guests and make sure all is good. If there were any issues or cleanliness problems they are there to fix. So why would you not bring this up when you are there and instead wait to post a review? As most of my guests each year are repeat renters, i'm sorry to say this guest won't be. Unfortunately I think this will have to go into the "can't please all the people all the time" category.

Great small Connecticut town and lake, feels like the old days! Enjoy sunset from the wrap around porch each night. Wonderful lake for sports or sitting in the boat house tiki bar and enjoy a summer cocktail. This is the foothills of the Berkshires so it's great for sledding, skating, snowmobiling, ice fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing, antiquing all in the area or just for sitting in front of the fireplace and cuddling. The lake has a sand bottom and a gradual deepening, great for swimming for all ages.
