Modern, 3 bedroom chalet located in Sugar Hill, NH. Beautiful view of the White Mountains from almost every window. Rural setting on a private 300-acre parcel on the side of Bronson Hill. Perfect for family getaways or a writers' retreat. Miles of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. In Spring, masses of lupine; in the summer, wild blueberries and strawberries; in the fall, serene walks in the woods to enjoy the changing color; and, in the winter, miles of trails perfect for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
The Gibbs family has owned the property for several generations and takes pride in being good stewards to the upland forest on their property. The stone fences still can be seen along the trails from the days when their great-grandfather raised sheep.
The setting is rural but the chalet has modern amenities. It was built in the late 1980s. The property offers peace and quiet for lovely hikes through the meadows and upland forest. There are puzzles and games for inclement weather. The cabin is a great destination for a family picnic. The 'elf house' is fun to find nestled in the woods on a trail not far from Dyke Road. Sugaring is done on the property in early Spring.
Once again, we had a great week up here in Sugar Hill. We hiked to the cabin every day...had the best blackberries EVER on the hike up! We look forward to our visit every year.
The house is perfect - very clean, well-stocked with everything one might need and comfortable for a family with kids. I particularly appreciated being able to do laundry. The property is amazing with scenic views, meadows, forests and trails. It is in a remote, quiet place with no other houses or people in sight. We had the perfect vacation.
This was our second visit here to New Hampshire and this lovely house in the woods. We love to relax here and not do much at all (in contrast to our hectic lives in England where we run our own business) by simply strolling along the country paths and lanes, visit the local villages and towns and just take in the magnificent scenery and peacefulness. Our two girls (7 and 9) love it here more than we do as they can play amongst nature without a care and are gone for ages before they return to the house for more pancakes and maple syrup!! They never get bored.
The accomodation suits our needs perfectly. Plenty of space and all the mod cons. The owners are a delight to deal with - we have become firm 'internet friends' since we 'found' them through some other friends who initially recommended this fantastic place! The only inconvenience for us is the flight to Boston as we are not too keen on flying - when are they going to build a bridge across the pond? However it's just something we'll have to put up with in the future as we love coming here so much!!! Thanks!
Our family all gathered in Sugar Hill this last fall and we had a fantastic visit. We had family members from Canada and the Midwest and the home was perfect for accomodating all our travelers. There was plenty of space, a great view and so much to do. We hiked the property and saw some historic locations as well as the more current maple sugar harvesting techniques. In the area we went for a senic dinner train tour, zip-line touring, and hinking in the Franconia Notch. We saw all kinds of wildlife and enjoyed the quiet and tranquility of the counrty. We plan to visit again this fall, can't say enough about how easy this house was to base our family gathering.
The view and the property are amazing! The home is also very comfortable and was not lacking in anything. I couldn't have found a better place to stay in the quaint community of Sugar Hill.
Our family absolutely loved our stay at this house. The property is so beautiful and we really enjoyed exploring the many trails. The hike to the log cabin was a nightly must for the kids. It is so relaxing a serene. The house is very clean and well-maintained. We felt so welcome there. I would recommended this house to anyone. We can't say enough about this place. The location was perfect for us, as we enjoy visiting Franconia Notch State Park. Polly's Pancake Parlor in town is also a must.
My family and I can't say enough about this vacation rental. The house is very clean and well taken care of and the property is magnificent. We spent every evening sitting on the second floor deck listening to birds, crickets and frogs and watching the mountain range shift with the clouds and light. It is a very quiet setting yet it's only a fifteen minute drive to Littleton with it's main street of funky shops and restaurants. Overall, it was an idyllic vacation for us and we are definitely planning a return visit.
On the property, there are many hiking trails, 3 ponds, a secret elf house, and an old log cabin for picnicking. Close to superb hiking, skiing, and bike trails. Perfect for snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. Close to Cannon for down hill skiing. Sugar Hill village nearby, including the famous Polly's Pancake Parlor. Shopping available in Franconia and Littleton.
Other Activities: snow shoeing
