Guest comments: We love staying at Couminole. We have been there twice and look forward to many more trips there. The second trip was my wife and I and our whole trip was centered around staying at the cottage. Each day would begin languidly there. Mornings were usually spent hiking from the cottage or exploring nearby by car or on foot. Afternoons were spent at the cottage or at one of two nearby cafes reading, eating scones, and drinking tea. Evenings were often spent in nearby Dingle, though we found we would sometimes end up preferring to stay put in the cottage reading by the fire.

Notes: No phone, no fax, no answering machine by design! get away from it all. No TV - folks usually go around to the pub in the evening or sit in front of a peat fire. Full bath with bathtub & shower. Over and over our guests say 'thank you for sharing your cottage. It was the best part of our Irish holiday. We've had many, many honeymoons and anniversary trips over the years. 2 Twins can be made up separately or together = king. Radiant underfloor heating. Very comfortable and cozy. The little glen beside us features bird watching. We've heard some report great sightings. It's all left natural. Our field is covered with many different wild flowers. And our neighbor sometimes puts animals in it - their horses, cows or sheep. We love the return to nature feel of the area. It's a place of astounding beauty and peace. Just what the modern stress-sufferer needs!

Further details for this vacation cottage rental in County Kerry, Ireland

more details! : We lovingly restored the historic structure. Everything inside is completely new; built from the ground up, beginning with radiant under-floor heating. This is our dream house - not just a rental. We have comfortable furniture, everything top of the line from the convection stove to orthopedic beds. Our minimum stay is one week. Reserve early to avoid disappointment. Spring, summer, and fall fill quickly. Why don't we have an on-line calendar? There are a number of reasons -- centrally that's it's already incredibly complicated to run an international operation. We're not set up for last minute travel. Just can't do it. Only a few people looked at our calendar by the latest count, but thousands read our guest book. Thank you to all our wonderful guests who made entries for us! Most inquiries answered within 24 hours. When we're traveling a day or two...If you don't get an answer back from us, we didn't get your email for some reason! Thanks for your interest

local activities nearby: : Bird lovers tell us there are many interesting species in the adjoining glen. Our field is just wild, so that provides views of wild flowers and offers good bird habitat. We love the song of the English robins. The birds are very friendly. One flew in when friends of ours were there. Richard coaxed him/her onto his hand and brought him/her back out. (They had the doors open without the screens up.) There are several museums of natural & local history within a couple of miles. There are easily enough activities to fill several weeks. We still haven't seen, done them all. Do as little or as much as you want....Many of us find a deep relaxation sinking into our bones. The perfect respite from today's hectic, hurried life. We are near several excellent hiking and walking trails - the Dingle Way and Pilgrim's Way. We've climbed Mt Eagle right behind us and done some of the Pilgrim's way 'out west' as they call the area west of us. 'great walking there' a guest.

Couminole has been been called the most beautiful : spot in the world by National Geographic Explorer. Dingle is one of the largest Gaeltachts (Irish speaking) areas. Many people come to the area to learn Irish. The Dingle area is popular for the traditional music as well. There are several world-famous restaurants in Dingle. We were the cover picture in Irish Sunday Times Real Estate Price Guide 2005 Section and on the back cover of Ireland for Dummies. A pop music group, The Beautiful South, made a video in our house. Many, many guests think of it as 'their Irish Cottage'. Comments such as: 'Thank you so much for opening up your Ireland home to us.' 'You have such a treasure there.' 'It's our piece of heaven. A part of us will always be there' 'It was absolutely wonderful. We love your cottage. Thanks so much for opening your home to us. We'll spread the word.' 'What a wonderful time I had in your cottage. It's a perfect base for walking, and was so comfortable that I didn't want to leave.

Other Activities: letting the world go by, relaxing, unwinding.....enjoying traditional music in pubs (golf)

A Charming Cottage with Breathtaking Views

Wistful in Wakefield Massachusetts
Review Submitted: August 5, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
I've been home from Ireland for over a week now and can't get this beautiful cottage with its spectacular scenery out of my mind. The cottage is perfect. Everything needed is provided in such a tasteful way. What a treat to start the day on the patio with the azure blue ocean, glorious fuchsia, and stone walls greeting me. The evenings are just as memorable, as are the walks to the beach and nearby cafe with its scrumptious scones and coffee with whipped cream. I will be dreaming about this place for years to come and feel so fortunate that I made this my home for two unforgettable weeks.

The Perfect Ireland Home

We hated to leave, and are already trying to figure out when we can go back. The cottage is very clean, quaint, and in the perfect location. I can't imagine a better view in Ireland. The whole rental process was so smooth, it couldn't have been more perfect. We had two weeks in Ireland, but our minds keep going back to the week we spent here. Loved it!

When can we go back?!

Beeje Wilmington, MA
Review Submitted: June 17, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We stayed at Couminole Cottage for 8 nights to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The cottage is perfect for 2 people and has everything you need to live in comfort, and for us, probably the best part was the inability to connect with work by phone/internet. A TRUE vacation! Between all the materials we received prior to our trip and all the helpful information provided at the cottage, we didn't have any problems whatsoever. Despite the glorious weather we enjoyed throughout our stay, we went through bundles of peat with cozy fires every evening. We cooked fantastic meals and took picnics along on our day trips and even bought a celebratory anniversary cake in Dingle! The morning visits from the local cows always made us smile, and the views are beyond fantastic.

Since our visit was in March, some of the restaurants, shops and attractions weren't yet open for the season. However we always managed to find an interesting place to stop during our daily explorations, always with gracious folks taking good care of us. We had a great time at the St. Patrick's Day parade in Dingle and brought home some wonderful pottery, jewelry and of course a hand-knit sweater from the Aran Islands.

This was our first time visiting the western half of Ireland, and we can't wait to go back for another dose of hospitality and beautiful scenery. We would definitely consider staying at Couminole Cottage again in the future and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends/family. It's just as advertised, you won't be disappointed!

Loved it!

So it may sound a little cliche, but when I first saw the picture of this place all I can say is that it spoke to me. I knew immidiately that this was the place I wanted to stay, and luckily it was available the week I requested.
The cottage itself is perfect. It's clean, quaint, and quiet. The area surrounding the cottage is amazing..the scenery is breathtaking! I just returned home after a fantastic week. Weather was perfect-shorts and flip flops every single day! There is a lot to do in the area, and the cottage itself is stocked with a lot of area information and a lot of books, and a great puzzle that another guest had purchased (Machu Pichu is a tough one!). I relaxed and read 3 books while I was there.
The little lambs in the field next door are adorable. Was nice to wake up, put up the screen in the door, and hear them BAAA'ing. Dingle town is about 15 minutes away. Take a boat from Dun Chaoin pier out to Great Blasket and walk around, highly recommend!! The beach is less than a 10 minute walk down the road (to the left when facing the ocean).
The day of my departure I actually had a lump in my throat when I went outside to take a final look before driving away. It broke my heart to leave. Stay here and you'll find out why...words can't describe how awesome this place is.
The owners were so friendly and helpful, always answering questions via email in a timely matter, and offered so many helpful suggestions. I feel so fortunate that I was able to share in their dream home. I'd stay here again in a heart beat. You should do the same, you won't regret it!

We spent the second week of our honeymoon in this idealic little cottage. We were hoping for somewhere romantic and we found it, not just the cottage but the whole area. The beach, ten minutes walk from the cottage is just beautiful, as is all surrounding scenery - we loved it. The peace and quiet struck a chord and we will most certainly be returning. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage with us!
