This property has been fully refurbished recently. Come and have a look, and let us know your opinion. We aim to offer a high quality leisure product at a low cost.

This is a cosy cottage with 2 bedrooms, a closet, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area, and a bathroom with bathtub. Outside, in a private area, there is a large backyard with barbecue and outdoor furniture.

The backyard has an area of 120 m2, where you can relax and enjoy the sun at the end of the day on a suitable furniture. There is also a barbecue to make your grilled meals, and a space for your outdoor meals, with table and chairs.

At your disposal will be the bed linens and towels. The water is safe to drink, and both the kitchen and the bathroom have hot water.

This property is located in a picturesque fishermen village by the river Tagus, and some 3 km away from the Atlantic Ocean. With magnificent views over the Lisbon coast, it is 5 minutes away from the nearest beach and 15 minutes from Lisbon.

For those travelling by car, there are excellent road accesses. Public transport is also available at 100m (ferryboat and bus) from the cottage. There is also a bycicle lane connecting the village to the beaches.

About Vera Marques

I am 54 years old and I am working in the area of engineering design. I live and work in Lisbon and have a beautiful and well located property in Trafaria/Costa da Caparica that I rent to reliable people, who travel to Portugal for professional reasons, or for holidays.

I am very pleased to welcome visitors and give them all the information they need so they have a great stay in Lisbon region, and also elsewhere in the country. I speak reasonable English and French very well. I also understand the Spanish and Italian. See you soon.

Why Vera Marques chose Trafaria

This property is located in a picturesque village by the river with magnificent views over the coast of Lisbon, at 5 minutes from the nearest beach of Costa da Caparica and at 15 minutes from Lisbon. Good access for those travelling by car, and public transport located at 100m (ferryboat and bus) from the property. The backyard has an area of 120 m2, where you can relax and enjoy the sun at the end of the day on a suitable furniture. There is also a barbecue to make your grilled, and a space for your outdoor meals, with a table and chairs.

On the outside property you have a parking lot where you can leave your car.

To make shopping for fresh food, you have a market in Trafaria. Here you also have groceries and all kinds of trade.

To appreciate the Portuguese cuisine, you have several restaurants much appreciated in Trafaria, where you can enjoy Portuguese cuisine, made with fresh fish and seafood.

If you want to visit Lisbon, you may go by ferryboat that links Trafaria to Belem. In Belém you have the train and the bus which takes you to downtown.

To go to the beach you have buses departing from Trafaria, and run around the beach line of Costa da Caparica. You also have a train that runs along the beaches.

What makes this villa unique

Costa da Caparica offer us 15km of beautiful sandy beaches, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. The property is located 3 km from the nearest beach, S. João da Caparica, and you have the ferryboat at 100m, that take to Lisbon. In Belem (Lisbon) you have the Jeronimos Monastery, the Torre de Belém, the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, among many other attractions. There you also have the train that will take you to Cais do Sodré and to the Lisbon historic center, where you will find the metro and the bus that will take you to all parts of the city of Lisbon. This train also transports you to Cascais, and along the coast of Lisbon.

To the South, you have a very rich region in terms of the historical heritage and the environment, that I strongly advise you to know.

Great for Family Holiday

My family recently stayed in this house, and had a great holiday. The house is comfortable, well equipped and very central.
We really liked Trafaria, a quite, non-touristy town, yet so close to everything.
The town square is a minutes’ walk away, the terminal for the ferry to Lisbon is 30 seconds down the road, and there are many cheap and excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk.
Check out the restaurant across the square from the house - an excellent 3 course meal and drinks for as little as €8!
The really nice beaches are about 30 minutes walk, though you can swim on the beach near the ferry terminal.
Vera also gave us the contact details for an excellent taxi driver who picked us up at, and returned us to, the the airport for a very, very reasonable price.
I would recommend this property for a family with smaller children, great value for money.

Estuvimos el puente de Semana Santa, con los dos niños y nuestra perra. Ubicado en un barrio muy tranquilo al otro lado del Tajo, y a 15 minutos en coche de Lisboa. Facil aparcamiento, restaurantes cercanos y tiendas. Relación calidad precio muy buena.

Una excelente opción para Costa Caparica

Estuvimos en la casa de la Palmera una semana a principios de Agosto. Muy bien situada , tanto para ir a playas turísticas, como a playas salvajes sin casi nada de gente y aguas cristalinas y muy cerca de Lisboa para salir a tomar una cerveza, pasear por su barrio alto junto a los tranvias, ver el jardin botanico o tomar unas " natas" en el barrio de Belen, preciosa ciudad
La dueña ( Vera) una mujer joven muy agradable e interesada en que estuviéramos agusto, nos dio mucha información de la zona e incluso nos dejo un pen drive para que pudieramos tener acceso a internet desde nuestro ordenador, muchas gracias por todo Vera!
La casa tiene una terraza increíble donde todas las noches hacíamos barbacoa ( y alguna caipiriña...)
Sin duda nos alojaremos allí otra vez cuando volvamos por la zona de Lisboa, cultura, deporte y ocio a mano en un pueblito acogedor y tranquilo, unas buenas vacaciones

The immediate surroundings of Trafaria, Distrito de Setúbal, are also worth exploring. This is how [www.getportugal.com] describes it: 'The District of Setúbal is located in the South of Portugal, delimited by the districts of Lisbon and Santarém on the north, the district of Évora on the east, the district of Beja on the south and the Atlantic Ocean on the west.

Diversified in its characteristics, Setúbal District congregates the lezírias of Alcochete and sandy beaches of Almada, the industrial past of Barreiro with the brave party of the Moita, the swine creation in Montijo, the castle and the wines of Palmela with the bay of Seixal, the nature of the Arrábida mountain range in Setúbal and the fishing tradition of Sesimbra, Santiago do Cacém with its hype beaches and the roman vestiges in Miróbriga and Sines.

In this region are located six protected areas: the nature reserves of the Estuaries on the Tejo and the Sado, the natural park of the Arrábida, the protected landscapes of Fossil Arriba on the Coast of the Caparica, and the nature reserve of the Lagoons of Saint André and Sancha and a part of the natural park of the southwestern Alentejano and Costa Vicentina.

Located in such a rich and wonderfull coastline, the identity of Setúbal is affirmed by the fish plates, mainly mackarel, octopus, flatfish, angler and a variety of shellfish, that one can feast on with a fresh light local wine, in a sunny esplanade.

For dessert one can choose from a variety of specialities: pies, cheese cakes, very sweet egg and sugar tarts, cinamon cookies, among many other sweet tooth satisfactions.

From this district comes also one of the great Portuguese cheeses: the cheese of Azeitão. Palmela wines are also the epitomee of quality and tradition of the region.

Almada is situated in the right bank of the river Tagus, with a superb view over Lisboa city centre, as one can confirm in the Boca do Vento Viewpoint and in the Cristo-Rei Viewpoint. Almada is also the 9th most populated city in the country.

The proximity with the magnificent river Tagus constituted a decisive facet for the population fixation, since remote periods of pre-history.

The Moorish influence is quite strong in Almada, providing in those days a great agricultural, fishing and military development.

In the end of the 19th century, Almada suffers a big industrialization, and all the landscape changes, with new factories and Workmen residences and quarters, leading to a service and commerce development as well.

In the 20th century, Almada suffers a bigger industrialization and a huge demographic explosion, mainly in the 60’s, marked by the inauguration of the 25th April Bridge that links Almada to Lisboa and by the Naval Shipyard of Lisnave, changing forever the ambience of other centuries, when Almada was a place of election of Nobles during summer time, although some of this buildings can still be found in the city.

The main attraction in the Almada Municipality are its crowded beaches, in an extension of 13km of golden sand, with an average of 8 million visitors per year.

Yet Almada has much more to know, starting by its charming historical centre, known as “Almada Velha” (“Old Almada”), where narrow streets filled with histories, restaurants, bars and nightclubs are frequented by young people every night.

The baroque Casa da Cerca and its Contemporary Art Centre and botanical garden are charming places worth to be known, as well as the Zagalos Manor house with a rich heritage. The vestiges of the Almada Castle attest this ancient history, and all the big and cherished green areas show the concern with the environment and with an healthy lifestyle, like the Parque da Paz, the Mata dos Medos, the Capuchos Garden or the riverside area and the lovely Jardim do Rio.

Costa da Caparica Beach endowed with several transports and next to the urban centre of the village, therefore is usually one of the most frequented beaches in the region, offering all sorts of amenities. Extended for over 15 kilometres, offering a wide variety of beaches that even though are quite similar, present different ambiances and styles. The majority of these beaches has lifeguard during summer months, car parking, restaurants and bars. There is also a touristic train that passes through all the beaches along the Caparica coast, during summer months only.

The Portinho da Arrábida is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Portuguese coastline, with bright thin sand and luminous crystalline waters, contrasting with the luxuriant vegetation of the greenish Arrábida Mountain, situated in the astonishing Arrábida Mountain Natural Park.

The beach is usually quite crowded during summer months, much frequented by families that find here the perfect calm waters for children, and shelter from the strong coastal winds.It is also quite frequented by divers, sport fishers and other sport practitioners.'
