Enjoy stepping out the back door and onto the sand! Plenty of beach for playing or relaxing ~ Beautiful views & sunsets. Take advantage of the fully screened-in porch overlooking the ocean; a wonderful place for reading & resting (or for those who don't love the sun quite as much!). The porch has a large dining table to seat 8 + people. Just outside the porch is a deck on the beach with plenty of chairs & chaises along with a gas grill. There is an outside shower for rinsing-off after a day of sand & surf. The living room is charming with blue & white decor, a vaulted ceiling and room for everyone to gather around & watch a movie on the VCR with a full-size sofa & love seat. Take advantage of the many books to read located on the living room shelves along w/various games and puzzles. When you're ready to venture out, there are many things to do within a short drive: casinos in Ledyard, outlet shopping in Westbrook & Clinton & kayaking at the local marina just to name a few.

Dine at area restaurants, enjoy art galleries, go antiquing or visit a winery. Take a day trip to the Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun Casino or the Mystic Village, Seaport or Aquarium. Go on a sunset sail on a old-time schooner leaving from Mystic for a memorable evening. Take a hike a local park or play tennis at the court down the street. Also, our cottage is located just down the street from the Hawk's Nest general store; great for that last minute item or souvenir.

Close enough to many amenities yet far enough away from it all; a great getaway place. Wonderful neighbors; many repeat renters. Terrific views & cool ocean breezes; a comfortable and relaxing place to be!

Nice relaxing beach front cottage

This was our second year at this cottage and it was again a nice relaxing time. It's great to sit out on the deck or porch and enjoy the views and fresh air and with the deck and porch on almost the same level people can talk to each other no matter where you are. No need to bring chairs as there are plenty, so that helps with the packing. The house has nice air flow and cieling fans in every room which is nice. The table on the porch makes a great game or dining spot where you can still see the beach and feel the sea breeze. We loved it again this year and will go back again.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
Owner's Response: It's wonderful to hear! We think our place is great and try to think of what renters would want/need, but it's terrific to know that it's enjoyed and appreciated. That's what the cottage is there for!

Beautiful cottage on Long Island Sound in a cozy neighborhood of vacation houses. Very comfortable 3 bedroom / 1 bath cottage with screen in porch right on the beach. Fully equipped with all the essentials, including gas grille, good sized deck with plenty of chairs, plenty of pots and dishes with a large lobster pot, and games and puzzles. Views and sounds of the surf were very soothing. So close at 1 hour drive and is so much better than fighting traffic and the long commute to the Cape. My wife and two teenaged boys loved it and we will definately look into going back next year.

Constructive comments:
- Bring water shoes as the beach and surf sand is on the rocky side
- Be careful on the rock jetty in front of the house in low tide, as the rocks when exposed are very slippery.
- Bring a canoe, raft or kayake in order to take advantage of being right on the water (there is a rental place close by on Rt 156, but bring if you already have)
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
