Caleta de Fuste is a quiet relaxing resort. There are some lovely beaches (safe and very suitable for families with children), plus a good selection of shops. Night life is low key but you will find every kind of restaurant and bar. Caleta de Fuste can boast two golf course (one of which hosting the 2004 Spanish Open,) which is only five minutes from the house. The house is 10 km. from the airport. There is a secluded harbour from where you can go on a trip in a catamaran. There is also a medical centre and chemist close by. The local market takes place every Saturday morning and is a great place to spot a bargain! Calete de Fuste is also a great base to discover the island. There are some fantastic beaches at El Cotillo, Costa Calma & Moro Jable which are well worth the drive. Also worth a visit is the local Spa called 'Balnearia', it is located behind the Barcelo Hotel, in the resort of Caleta de Fuste. The Sheraton Hotel also have an excellent SPA.
Golf: There are now two fantastic golf courses at Calete de Fuste. The Spanish Open for 2004 was held at the Fuerteventura Golf course. The other golf course is called Las Salinas Golf course. The two golf courses in Caleta offer different rates and packages depending on the season. Well worth asking what are the different rates available at the time if you are booking (recommended) a round of golf. There are also driving ranges available at both golf clubs.
The 5* Hotel - ELBA PALACE is out of this world, and is a truly relaxing place to have a drink or something to eat for both golfer and non-golfers. There are fantastic views of the sea, mountains the resort all around the golf complex. Overall a very tranquil place to visit, we love it.
