Very Special

This was such a charming and perfect apartment! I agree wholeheartedly with the previous reviews and can only repeat all their positive comments.
The only thing i would mention is that although it is listed as wheelchair accessible, it almost is, except for 2 steps as you exit from the elevator. (also for anyone using a chair this is a very rough cobblestone street area, not recommended). I just notice these things as I have a family member who uses a wheelchair. It wasn't an issue for us this time. Loved it!

Perfect!

This was a fantastic apartment! The photos don't do it justice...it was modern, clean, had a great floor plan and was well located.

-Walking distance from the Colosseum area
-Grocery store nearby
-Plenty of restaurants at your doorstep
-A very comfortable bed
-Gorgeous terrace
-Quiet inside the apartment
-Air conditioner worked great
-Questions were answered promptly
-Very close to Cavour metro stop which is only one stop from Termini station.
-Great internet speed
-The elevator was a nice bonus

There weren't any negatives about this apartment. It was our favorite accommodation in Italy (we also rented places in Venice, Florence, and Meta) and we hated to leave.

As for Rome:

Buying a Roma Pass will allow you to skip the line at the Colosseum provided it is amongst the museums you decide to see for "free".

Take a scarf with you to cover your shoulders. Many churches require you to do so. St. Peter's requires modest dress for both men and women (shoulders and knees must be covered.)

Do some research regarding the beggars in Rome (and other parts of Italy) before you travel.

Buy a money belt to wear under your clothes and keep your valuables there. (This is true of any busy city.) We met only one person who had been pickpocketed but better safe than sorry. The metro is very crowded and it was easy to see how it could happen to anyone.

Book advance tickets for the Vatican Museums. The line was insane even at 9am.

Do your best to bring only a carry on sized suitcase. The streets of Italy are easier to navigate if you aren't struggling with cumbersome baggage.

Great Location!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here in May 2014 for 4 nights. We found this property on VRBO and was a little hesitant at first due to the small number of reviews, but everything was wonderful!! E-mail questions and confirmations were replied to promptly and someone was waiting at the apartment on our arrival. A welcome bottle of wine was there for us and we were given a quick tour of the apartment, and then we settled in for a wonderful stay in the heart of the Monti district of Rome. The terrace is what caught our eye in the photographs, and you will not be disappointed!!! We enjoyed sitting outside with a glass of wine to rest before heading out for dinner each evening.

The apartment is in a quiet location and located within a few blocks of the Colosseum. It is also very easy to walk to all of the other sites in Rome. We only took the metro once, to get to the Vatican, but ended up walking home, as the distance was very manageable. Trevi fountain is only about 20 minutes away. We ended up also getting tickets to Palazzo Valentini (only a few blocks from the apartment) and HIGHLY recommend going. You won't find this tour spot in any of the guidebooks, and you do need to book ahead of time, but it was a highlight of our stay in Rome.
There is a small supermarket a few blocks away to get anything you would need (we mainly bought wine and snacks). There are also several area restaurants and we did not have a single bad meal. I recommend downloading the app "Rome Eats" as it has hundreds of recommended restaurants throughout rome, along with a downloadable map...this helped guide our restaurant choices.

We did use the washing machine once during our stay. I ended up having to buy laundry detergent, as there was none in the apartment. After a quick look online, I was able to decipher the dials in order to figure out how to work the machine.

Great place, don't hesitate to book...so much better than staying at a hotel!

Ideal

This apartment was my husband and my dream Roman pied-a-terre. It is perfectly located on a charming cobblestoned street in the cool Monti neighborhood, with all its great restaurants, wine bars, and boutiques, yet also just a couple of blocks from the Colosseum and the attractions beyond. The rooms look out on a lovely private terrace with bell-tower views on one side and a large planted courtyard on the other, which means they are both bright and quiet. There are old beamed ceilings and nicely personalized, comfortable furnishings, with a clean-lined, well-equipped modern kitchen and bath. Our landlord was gracious and helpful at all points in our dealings, and along with basic instructions left us a nice mini-guide to the neighborhood. As another reviewer said, we hated to leave—and hope very much to get the chance to stay there again.
