Adorable, renovated 2-level cottage (it's much larger than it appears from the picture) with views of Lakeville Lake (Wonoscopomac) and a lovely pond. The pet-friendly 1+ acre property abuts the Salisbury / Lakeville 'Town Grove,' which offers boating, lifeguard-protected swimming, playgrounds, paddle tennis court, etc. Two wood-burning fireplaces. The living room opens onto a dining room, and French doors take you to the screened porch, where you can sit on rocking chairs and watch the sunset over the lake. Each of the 2 large bedrooms has a Q-sized bed, and there is a Q-sized sofa bed in the living room. Downstairs offers a huge den with a full-sized futon, bathroom (with shower) and a separate office area, with a view of the lake and a microwave, coffee maker, and fridge.
Very pet friendly —we have two fenced runs. A nifty 'pulley' device clips to your dog's collar so he or she can be outside with you on the main outdoor area, and the dog can be off leash in the large run around our fruit trees (pears, apples, cherries, peaches, and plums in the summer).
The washer dryer is conveniently located in the main floor mud room. We have both oil heat and propane, so there's plenty of hot water and a gas stove (and washer/ gas dryer).
Wireless broadband Internet access serves the entire house, and VoiP phone service (U.S. calls only please). Cable includes a premium package that includes high definition HBO, and YES, NESN, and SNY for Yankees /Mets / Red Sox fans.
The Lakeville / Salisbury / Sharon / Canaan / Millerton area is about two hours from NYC, with easy train access (Metro North - Wassaic). Airport access is Bradley CT (about an hour), NYC (about 2-1/2 hrs) or Boston (about 3 hours).
Please note: our property abuts the Salisbury Town Grove, but it is not lakefront property. The bottom of the property is rough forest. We do not recommend walking through the forest to the Grove. However, it is a very short walk (or drive) to get to the Grove. Also please note: dogs are not permitted in the Grove area. If any questions, please email owner.
I enjoy the city/country lifestyle and renovating my Lakeville home.
Monica Bay purchased this cottage in 2002
I fell in love with the house the minute I saw it.
It combines the best of city/village/country lifestyle, easy to get to, yet very private.
The Berkshires offer year-round delights — hiking, skiing, music, theater, restaurants, antiques, fine and casual dining, Lime Rock car racing, Skip Barber driving school, prep schools (Hotchkiss, Salisbury, Berkshire), Tanglewood, Housatonic river, Stockbridge, Great Barrington, Sheffield, Lenox, Shaker Village, Berkshire Choral Festival, Butternut, Catamount, Mohawk, Jacob's Pillow, FDR and Vanderbilt properties, arts, crafts, and more. The Northwest Corner (2 miles from New York, about 10 from Mass. border) is a true joy! Easy access to Western Massachusetts and Berkshires, Rhinebeck, Hudson River. 2 hours from NYC and easy trip from Boston.
Other Activities: Music, theater, restaurants, shopping, hiking, etc.! Paddle tennis court adjoins property.
