Overview

Lucca Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa On The Hills Of Lucca, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, 1 Sofabed. Sleeps 7 People

This charming farmhouse restored in 2012, was formerly a small cloister dating back to 1700. It is located in the middle of an olive tree grove dominating the valley and the city of Lucca, which lies only 11 km from here. The owner is an interior designer, this is why interiors are refurbished with care and attention to details, using original Tuscan furniture and aiming at the perfect ease of the guests. The days in Lucca will be particularly agreeable thanks to its many attractions and points of interest: the sightseeing of the town, its unique city walls, churches, squares, museums etc. For those who love the sea, in 20 minutes you can reach the sea-side resorts of Versilia, Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi - all renowned for their huge golden shores. For mountain lovers, in only 30 minutes you can be in the Garfagnana area and walk through its ancient villages. Take a chance to visit the cities of art and the most characteristic places of Tuscany (Pisa, Firenze, Siena, Cinque Terre) that are near to Lucca and easy to reach. In case some day you do not want to go anywhere, you can enjoy the impressive terrace, which is definitely the peculiarity of this house, offering the possibility to stay outside in complete relax. A magical place surrounded by nature where everything is like it used to be – only a few ancient houses deep in the stillness of the hills and an enchanting atmosphere due to the magnificent view, outstanding during the day and lovely by night.

Recommendation without reserve

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful villa surpassed only by the views across Lucca and the Tuscan Hills. Massimo is an expert host rightly proud of his villa and the landscape it inhabits. We were met with a very warm welcome and some goodies to get us started, not least his own olive oil which is delicious! The villa is a great base to explore the region, La Spezia, Parma, Bologna, Florence, Follonica all easily reachable, although our favourite was Lucca at the bottom of the valley!

I can recommend this wonderful villa and if you really want to spoil yourselves ask Massimo if Carla is willing to come and cook a Luccasian meal one evening (I advise skipping lunch to make room), absolutely delicious, Carla will effortlessly bring you course after course as you watch the lights of Lucca in the distance.

We hope to return soon...

Amazing villa, beautiful view, beautiful property!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! This place exceeded our expectations. A cozy yet roomy, Tuscan home with a view that will knock your socks off. It is rustic, yet has modern upgrades (dishwasher, washer). The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms/showers perfect (good water pressure/warm water abundant/great shower heads!) The beds were comfortable and we loved having the option to keep the windows open (with screens) while we slept. The villa and the grounds are very well kept. Everything was clean and tidy. The location of the villa was easy to get to - just a short jaunt from Lucca. We day tripped and found it no problem driving to everywhere we wanted to go - Lucca, Pisa, Cinque Terre, Grotto del vento (wind caves) & Barga (beautiful city).

It was awesome having the ability to cook at the villa. There is a market that is easy to get to and not far. We made breakfast every morning and several dinners (there were 6 of us). Make sure to leave time to sit on the patio and enjoy a Lemoncella at the end of the day. It's worth it!

Our host Massimo was responsive, helpful and such a kind man!!! Whatever we needed, he was on it! He was incredibly accommodating when we had flight issues and were 7 hrs late getting in - he even called up a local pizza place and asked them to stay open for us so we could eat. This pizza place was so good we went back...2 more times!! (Pizzeria Zio Gio' - just a few miles down the hill from the villa).

Massimo kindly made arrangements for a chef to make us lunch (don't do a dinner b/c this is a several course affair - you'll need the afternoon to recover!) Best meal ever in all of Italia...Carla's food is the real deal. She uses recipes that have been handed down through the generations. Simply amazing!!

Highly, highly recommend staying at this wonderful villa! We hope one day to be back. Thank you, Massimo - You're the best!!

Just as I have imagined

  • 5 of 5

a lovely, warm typical Tuscan home. The view from the terrace is spectacular. The house and surroundings are well kept. We loved being so close to Lucca as this is our favorite place in Tuscany. Massimo is a charming host. We were greeted with a bottle of wine, lovely bread, and homegrown olive oil. Very nice gesture. I can only recommend this house to anyone wanting to relax in Tuscany and still be near a wonderful city. We would stay there again.

Relaxing, Romantic, and Refreshing

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful place to relax, sightsee, or just about do anything. Massimo was the most wonderful host who was available to answer any questions, very helpful with suggestions of where to dine and grocery shop. The house was delightful and we could sit for hours on patio and look out at scenery. Good location if have a car to go around Tuscany. Wish we could have stayed longer! Hired the chef, Carla, for our last night there and she cooked best meal we ever ate and was also a person with wonderful personality. Only wish we had hired her earlier in stay as there was enough food left over for several more meals (there were four of us). When you go, arrange for her early, perhaps your second night there to take advantage of "leftovers". I only hope we get opportunity to stay there again. All of us have nothing bad to say about house or Massimo. One caution, if you have trouble with stairs, this could be difficult as house is downhill from car, but not too many steps.

Our Tuscan Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We anticipated a fabulous villa in Tuscany, and this home, along with the warmth, honesty and caring of our owner, Massimo, exceeded our fondest expectations. Every morning we watched the sun rise over the mountains from our terrace, and evenings were spent enjoying the spectacular views and twinkling lights of Lucca in the distance. Massimo is the perfect host and provided us with all the information we needed as to restaurants, the market and directions to wherever we wanted to go. The villa itself has every amenity we had hoped for. At a recommendation by Massimo, we even had a catered dinner, including wine, prepared at our villa. The 4-course meal was leisurely enjoyed on our spectacular terrace, just another fabulous memory of our stay in paradise. Need we say more? We would return in a heartbeat and, for anyone traveling in Tuscany, Massimo's villa is THE BEST!

Paradise in Tuscan Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

We were a family of four (children aged 5 and 3) and another couple and this house suited our needs perfectly. Rooms were spacious with comfortable beds and stunning views out of all windows. It was a peaceful cool haven to come home to after a day of sightseeing. The gardens were beautifully kept and a great space for children to explore safely. The house contained everything we needed (including coffee machine, washing machine, barbecue and dishwasher) and the whole house was very clean. The welcome gift on arrival of local delicacies made us feel very at home straight away. Massimo was the perfect host ensuring we had everything we needed and giving local information when asked. We only wished we could have stayed longer, we'll definitely be back!

The city of Lucca boasts some wonderfully charming urban spaces: the most famous of these is surely the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, built on the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheatre by the architect Lorenzo Nottolini, a unique architectural marvel. The main artery running through the historic centre is the narrow Via Fillungo, a medieval street lined with the city’s most prestigious shops. Some of Lucca’s other picturesque squares include Piazza San Michele, the city’s historic fulcrum, and Piazza San Martino, the centre of religious life and the site of the renowned Duomo di San Martino. Its immense historic-monumental opulence has prompted a recent proposal to include Lucca’s historic centre – which also comprises a historic playhouse, the Teatro del Giglio - in UNESCO’s world heritage list.
