We all had a wonderful time! We enjoyed the beach and the house is nice and roomy, and well equiped with everything we needed. Thank you for letting us have this time in your beach house.
This house is definitely not the "prettiest" or newest on the block (the roof is rusty and falling apart and needs to be replaced, etc.) but it has the same incredible views as any other house on this beach. The kitchen area had been recently renovated, it seemed -- new kitchen appliances, new big kitchen table and chairs -- and it was a great place to gather as a large group for evening meals or games. The porch chairs were old and plastic, some falling apart, but most of them still held up, and the grill on the porch worked perfectly. The views from the house (RIGHT on the beach) really can't be beat! The private dune walkover and the outdoor shower were very nice too. The house was fully stocked with about anything you would need for a week on the beach... beach towels, beach toys for the kids, fully stocked kitchen utensils, etc. Wanda was helpful before and during the rental with most extra needs that came up.
The rooms were spacious and clean; the master bedroom with a door opening onto the beach-facing porch was incredible. A few of the old showerheads in the bathrooms sprayed water in all directions and one shower refused to drain, but with 4.5 bathrooms there were always other options to use if one was acting up. The downstairs "apartment" would be a great place for a family with small kids to reside, to avoid disturbing any other guests.
Cap's on the Water, across the street from this house, is highly recommended for dinner -- the views on the water at sunset were gorgeous.
In all, my friends and I loved this place and had a terrific vacation, and will hopefully be coming back in the future!
Prior to a wedding, my family of ten decided to take a few days before to unwind and essentially just relax before the big wedding day. This house was perfect for that and it was so well kept and apportioned. The entire backside of the house has rolling windows and we simply left them open all the time to have an unobstructed view of the ocean, smell the salt air and watch the waves. The beach and our own private walkway was wonderful and we also loved having the outside showers to get the sand off of us. At the end of the day, this was a spectacular visit and house. Lastly, Wanda was so great to work with and she made it such a pleasure. We'll be calling here again soon!
Our vacation at Dolphin Retreat couldn't have been better. The house was perfect. We had 5 families from 3 states and two babies. We each had our individual space. Wanda provided the items we needed for the babies so we didn't have to pack as much. It was great to have beach chairs and beach toys. The beach was so peaceful and quiet. It was the perfect place to have our first vacation with our daughters, their husbands and new babies and our nephew and his family. Those who wanted to see the sites were close to the old city, Capp's and the Reef were wonderful dining experiences. My cousin's came from Jacksonville for a mini family reunion and it was perfect to cook-out, relax on the deck and the beach and watch all the kids play. Hope to be back next year.
The house was excellent. There were a few minor issues but Wanda took care of them quickly. She even had a plumber show up @ 10pm to fix the shower! Bed's were comfy and clean, no bed bugs here! Just an excellent home. Plenty of dishes, pans, and other cookware. The view from the living room, dining room and master bedroom makes this house. I will never forget waking up next to my new wife while looking out at the sunrise. Just incredible. The beach was amazing, water was perfect for swimming, some great waves and some nesting turtles during this time of the year.
I highly recommend this home to any vacationing family, it is well worth it!
This was a beautiful beach house!! We needed a place large enough for at least 16...all girl cousins for our yearly get together. It was fully stocked with essentials. They thought of everything!! Very clean. More than enough room for all of us. The sunrises were amazing from the balcony!! Wanda and Ahmed were easily accessable when I contacted them. I would highly recommend this property and I already have to several friends.
Our big company stayed at the Dolphin Retreat for New Year's days. It was unforgetable time for all of us. Everyone had his own room. The house was really clean and nice. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and serving our holliday food. This property has really great ocean-view and clean beach shore. Also it was a short drive from the old town of St.Augustine and its main atractions. We will highly recommend this house for any kind of events for all our friends.
Beautiful sandy beaches and blue ocean serve as Dolphin Retreat's backyard. St. Augustine, FL is the oldest city in America and one of the most popular of Florida's tourist destinations. Visit Historic St. Augustine with guided trolley tours, walking tours and ghost tours. Parasailing, jet ski and boat rental, and fishing trips are all a few minutes away. Excellent cuisine can be had at several restaurants within 10 minutes of the house. End your day watching dolphins, pelicans, and sail boats from Dolphin Retreat's back porch, or take a sunset sailing cruise from the harbor to the ocean.
