Peaceful lakefront home with large dock, firepit, deck and bluestone patio. Enjoy the beautiful lake while you swim, fish, or launch our canoe (provided) or your kayak from the dock. Relax in the hammocks, rope chair, or beach chairs (provided) at the lakefront, or head to Boothbay Harbor where you will find activities for the entire family! Hike at nearby Land Trust properties where you will find abundant wildlife sightings and pristine pathways. Take a sunset cruise in the harbor, enjoy the many seafood restaurants, take in live summer theater, go on a real Maine clambake, or just stay at our peaceful lakeside retreat for rest, relaxation, and a true 'get away from it all' vacation. Our beautiful home provides a spectacular view of the lake from the dining and living areas. The kitchen is fully equipped, the bedrooms are large and accommodating, and the peace and tranquility are unsurpassed!

TAKE TIME FOR FAMILY!: Most of our renters are families looking to spend quality time. Here at The Mystic, it's all about quality time. The lake is an adventure that adults and children alike will enjoy. Hop in our canoe and paddle around, explore the many nooks and crannies of the lake, perhaps see the bald eagles that nest at one end or meet the family of loons that call the lake home.

If you are looking for a little more adventure, explore the many preserved areas of the Boothbay Region Land Trust, take a drive to Freeport for shopping or head to Boothbay Harbor for a whale watch, island clambake or delicious lobster dinner. And when you are done, return to the Mystic to relax and get away from it all.

Swim or fish from the dock, read a book, or just sit and enjoy the beautiful breeze that always blows across Knickerbocker Lake. Our home is spacious, comfortable and just waiting for you and your family to enjoy!

NO PARTIES: Our home is NOT available for weddings, family reunions or large parties. We are located in a peaceful setting with friendly neighbors who enjoy the tranquility as much as we do. If you are looking for a 'party' house, we suggest you check other locations.

Great Family Holiday

Our first family holiday in the U.S. and we were so glad we chose Maine and that we discovered The Mystic, this is a wonderful home to stay in.

The kids (ages 8 & 13) loved both swimming in the lake and exploring it by kayak. They also enjoyed whale watching, mackerel fishing, mini golf, the Maine Lobster Festival, Owls Head Transportation Museum.... (I could go on, let's just say they didn't once get bored!).

We enjoyed the peace and quiet of The Mystic, it is a truly relaxing experience and is very well equipped.

Boothbay Harbor is a great base for a mid-coast Maine vacation, with plenty of good restauarants to choose from (we thought Kalers was a good family restaurant and the Lobster Dock for a lobster dinner) and it didn't seem too crowded, compared to Southern Maine resorts, even though it was the height of Summer.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

We throughly enjoyed our "On Golden Pond" vacation on Knickerbocker Lake. The weather was perfect! My husband and son loved the canoe provided while I enjoyed kayaking on the lake. We fell in love with a pair of loons and their two babies. We saw them on the lake every day. We caught fish from the dock, but mainly had fun jumping off into the clear lake. We sat around the fire pit every night. So glad that I brought bug spray along. Loved the town of Boothbay Harbor. We hope to return to the Mystic some day.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Perfect Weather, Perfect Vacation !!

This was an excellent place to have a family vacation ! The home was more than advertised and exceeded my expectations ! The bedding was great, furnishings modern and well equipped. The outdoor amenities were excellent and well used. The firepit just put you to sleep and marshmellows taste so good when browned to perfection. My wife and grandson were amazed to watch the next door neighbor take off in his sea plane. Everyone enjoyed the lake and particularly using your canoe to paddle around the lake. The privacy was nice and the weather even better - it didn't rain the entire time we were there. And the constant gentle breezes just lulled you into complete relaxation ! We will certainly come back, and didn't want to leave !!
The kitchen was well equipped, and we did not want for any utensils. We had my aunt and my mother over for a lobsta dinner, and an evening of playing cards, telling stories, and just plain having fun ! We can't wait to start planning our next trip back !!

Just had a fantasic week at the house! Of all the towns we visited during our week, we were so happy by the location of this home. The kids enjoyed the canoe and catching bass in the lake as well as the aquarium and going out on lobster boat. We saw more whales in Boothbay than last year in Alaska not to mention at less than half the price. The house was immaculate and so very comfortable for two families. We enjoyed cooking lobsters and sitting on the deck looking out at the Lake. We had a fabulous week and look forward to coming back. This house offers everything we were looking for. Thanks again Lori!
