This Victorian mountain home with tin walls looks at striking mountain views, it is in walking distance to all the clubs, shops and restaurants. Only 3 miles to Hunter Ski Mtn and 20 minutes to Ski Windham. With its 3 floors, 6 large bedrooms new bathrooms, a newly remodeled open kitchen living room and game room complete with Foosball table, makes it great for large groups to have fun.
Bike path : There is an area close to the house that offers basketball, skateboarding, and new playground for young children and a pavillian with picnic tables and BBQ grills. The bike path runs along it and beyond with beautiful scenery.
Ten of us stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days. The house was awesome and very spacious! The location was fantastic and was a very short walk to all the bars and restaurants. Also very close to the mountain. We have already decided to turn this into an annual trip! Thanks Nora!
The family room allowed our little ones to entertain themselves with the foosball table and cartoons while the adults enjoyed ourselves in the living room. The young adults enjoyed the hot tub and were to walk into town. The entire family walked the path behind the house and roasted marshmallows around the fire pit. You can have it all !
First when we emailed the Owner, everything was ok and she insisted that we keep in touch with email. When we arrived to the house it was less beautiful that we thought( as we couldn't have better pictures) but it was fine, as mostly we came for the hot tub, which was mentioned! But the hot tub wasn't working, nor the internet. We tried to call the numbers she left for us and none of them answered for half a day and the time she answered, she was very AGgRESSIve! not friendly at all( like before we payed her)! She said that is it!!! and she cant fix it!!! we were so angry and suggested we would get some of the money back! then after the first day she fixed it! we lost one day! the house was in not a very good shape! some of the beds were broken! Also we cleaned and gave back the house in the condition we got it from her! but she waited till one month ended to give back the deposit money! of course it was written in the contract, but our experience with other rentals was never like this! she didn't do any of the things she mentioned in the contract and has been very impolite with us over the phone, but when it came to giving back the deposit she followed well her contract! we WOULD NEver suggest this house to anyone else!!!! NOT WITH this owner!!!

Owner's Response: As the owner of this house I have a commitment to customer service. I employ a house manager, caretaker and have a weekly hot tub service contract. I provide each guest with the managers contact number. I am sorry this guest was not satisfied but they did not contact the manager with their issues and therefore the issue took a bit longer to get resolved. The matter was resolved less than 24 hours after notification. This guest stayed at the house one year ago, all beds are in good working condition.
I stayed here with a large group to attend a festival at Hunter Mt. The size and location was perfect. Not only was it close to the mountain, but even closer to town. There was plenty of room so that we didn't feel claustrophobic. We loved the hot tub of course, and the large kitchen and large table for all of us to enjoy cooking and eating together. I wish we had more time and if the weather was warm, would have loved to take advantage of the lake down the path. Would definitely book again!

Almost all the beds were fine , except one on the first floor- it sagged badly in the middle. The bathroom screens were missing so we had lots of flies with us for awhile. It would have been a nice heads up on the bear situation in the backyard. The religious zealots next door were a bit of a surprise as well. About a half dozen lights were burned out on the porch, by the steps leading to the yard and in the kitchen and bedrooms. I don't fault the owner as much as the caretakers for most of these problems. We did have a great stay despite these problems. Hope the house made it through the floods of Irene.

Owner's Response: The sagging bed and the screens have been replaced and the light bulbs were changed immediately after a call to the caretaker. The house is located in the country and I can't control the bears, nature or someone's relious preference. I appreciate the reviewers time invested in making my house better and future renters happy.
I'll start with the issues we had with this property, but there is a lot of good things to say too. The pictures and description of this house are misleading. Maybe the main kitchen/great room area had a new floor put in within a few years, but besides for that, this house is not renovated at all. It is an older house, albeit with some charm. Also, there are two houses very close by and the house is on the main road through town---although the pictures might lead you to believe it stands alone in a quiet setting. The nearby lake has "No Swimming" signs and is not anything special (it has a ton of algae as well). Lastly, the pictures of this house are quite old as the couches and carpets look like they have taken a beating.
Nevertheless, if you are with a large group of people (we were about 15), this house does offer a lot of beds and access to nearby sights. The kitchen/den area is large and good to hang out in. There is a cool little hot tub in the back yard. There is a brand new washer/dryer and plenty of parking.
I'll put the disclaimer out there that we can be a little "picky' with places we stay, but if you are the type who is just happy to have a bed and access to the nearby area, this house is for you. We really expected to be staying in a newly renovated home, this house is just not that. However, the owner was very nice and addressed our concerns accordingly. If this house got a little more TLC it would have a ton of potential!
Owner's Response: I am the owner of the Grateful Bed House and always look to improve my property. The pictures accurately depict the interior and exterior. I the living room and a family room the furniture is less than 5 years old, purchased at Raymour and Flannagan. The appliances, windows and electric have been updated within the last 5 years and the hot tub is two years old and we just purchased a new foosball table last week. I can't control the algaa in a public lake. I employ a house manager who lives accross the street that responds to any needs of the renter.
The house is located near 3 ski mountains. It's only 20 minutes to famous Woodstock, NY. Summer time offers a great many things to do like hiking and biking on 161 miles of scenic trails, tubing, fishing and rafting. Golf courses are in abundance up here, there are 10 courses all within minutes of the house. There are 6 nine hole courses and 4 eighteen hole courses and a practice range a mile away. Hunter Mtn offers great festivals all summer long. Attractions like Howe Caverns, and North South Lake.
The first payment of $500 is a deposit to reserve the house. Thirty(30) days before arrival the full rental amount is dues. The $500 is used as a damage security deposit and is returned.
