Chelsea House Rental Photos and Description
4 bedroom, 4 bathroom, classy English townhouse in Southwest London
Old England is not one thing, but many. It’s afternoon tea, twiddled taches and tweed caps. It’s blithe spirits maypoling on village greens and the sighs of cricket crowds in high summer. To that list add Chelsea Park Gardens. Elegantly classy and bounded by the most beautiful of gardens, this home may be the distilled essence of all things English. The surfaces are polished, the armchairs antique, the crockery of only the finest. From the former maid’s quarters to a modern gym, everything breathes that old-time charm. Indeed, with the jolly Kings Road just round the corner, there may not be a sweeter spot in all of merrie England.
Quite a character
Your host in an affable English gent of the old school. Now retired, he’s been master of Chelsea Park Gardens for upwards of thirty years. His wife hails from Columbia, where they own another house together. Fly fishing being his chief hobby, these days you’ll find him arranging trips for fellow anglers.
They don’t make em like they used to
Beneath its dashing dark brick exterior, this home is all English elegance. Book-lined shelves, leather armchairs and an antique desk make the study an object of interest in its own right, though we quite understand if your attention wanders over to the window and the garden whispering beyond. You’ll find the dining room to be polished, traditional and laid for the finest supper – with the spacious kitchen being quite equal to the task of providing it. Take the air on your communal lawns next, or have a gander at the bedrooms.
A former maid’s quarters, the single is quaint and characterful with its own ensuite. Upstairs, artwork, antiques and a leafy balcony await in the charming master bedroom, and you’ve an eloquent bathroom too. Next, take your ease in the magnificent sitting room, all gilt paintings, graceful lamps and vintage sofas upholstered in florals. A floor further, and you’ll uncover a classy double, gracious twin with ensuite, another plush bathroom and a home gym to boot.
Round the corner buzzes the Kings Road, a famed thoroughfare with a rich – and rather English – past. Once a private royal road, it became the home of punk in the 1970s before today’s tasty boutiques and bars moved in. Grab a coffee and croissant in the nearby Bluebird Café before turning towards leafy Battersea Park or Chelsea Physic Garden for that afternoon stroll. For England at its most energetic, you can’t go far wrong with the West End. The tube from South Kensington to Oxford Circus, takes around thirteen minutes.
