|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
If you flit from bar to bar, if you’re drawn to the bright and the beautiful, then drop in on Pollen Street. This is a home with some serious allure, featuring sharp contemporary design and a perfect finish. And the location will have you dancing on the spot. You’re moments from Oxford Circus, just off one of London’s most revered garden squares, surrounded by achingly lovely streets peppered with ultra-desirable nightspots. Have a flutter at the Ritz, shop on Old Bond Street and Dover Street Market, or take a stroll in Green Park and visit Buckingham Palace, and the ultimate Queen bee.
Your host has a family home in the countryside near Bath. He’s in London a few nights a week for his work in the city, but he’s always drawn back out to flower-filled meadows. He recently invested in a vineyard in Bordeaux, and he’s waiting for the sun to work its magic on next year’s vintage.
Up on the third floor, you’ve views of chimney pots and birds’ nests, pigeons and sunbeams. The living space is open plan, with sophisticated furniture and a smart new kitchen topped with grey marble. Dine beneath the window upon ebony and chrome, snuggle on the couch, or make your way through to the two bedrooms. The guest double sits cosily within sloping walls, while the master is spacious and just a tiny bit swanky, with acres of rich wooden floor, a gleaming ensuite and even a little balcony.
Spread your wings
Quietly decadent, and with some serious class, Mayfair is where the young royals go clubbing, and where Bertie Wooster gets his shoes. The shopping is beyond tempting, whether you’re after Marks and Spencer and Topshop on Oxford Street or something special from Bond Street, both are incredibly close. Sip a cocktail (or three) at the Wolseley, dine at Pollen Street Social or Sketch, then dance the night away at Mahiki. You’re bang in the centre of town, with Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus and Soho within a walk – or a stagger – and indeed you may not need the tube at all.
