Islington House Rental Photos and Description
4 bedroom, 3 bathrooms, creatively decorated home in ideal North London location
With original artwork lining the walls, from colourful abstracts to expressionist nudes, and an architecturally inspiring extension, it’s clear that a filmic eye has been at work in creating this stunning, four bedroom, three bathroom home. In the rare instance that you wish to leave it, the alt-chic of Camden Town is a short bus ride away, as is the ethereal Angel with its boutique shopping culture and incomparable array of restaurants. After a winsome walkabout, return to Cardozo Road, and bask in the production values found in the pink patio’s street-style graffiti, and the exquisite wallpapers in nearly every room.
Cast and crew
Your hosts are a film production designer, a director and their two children. A family of creative personalities, their keen aesthetic sensibilities are played out all over their exquisite Highbury home, from the eclectic collection of artefacts from all over the world, to the bounty of homegrown and collected artwork. They love nearby Soho’s thriving media scene, and exploring the area’s renowned art galleries.
Mise en scene
Enter the hallway and admire the huge charcoal drawing amongst a multitude of other framed forms, then tread the patterned floor tiles through to the sitting room, where original high ceilings and stucco work juxtapose conceptual, contemporary design. Sink into the pink bean bag and trace your eyes over the prized wallpaper, or tinkle the ivories of the white Streicher piano.
In the no-expense-spared kitchen, sit at the breakfast bar and read a book beneath the ceiling spotlights, or slide over the oak floors to the impressive, elliptical dining table. At the far end, huge folding French doors open onto the decked garden, where a high-end barbeque and garden furniture make al fresco dining a doddle. Upstairs in the master suite, a museum-worthy, plinth-mounted sculpture overlooks the super king bed. Recline and admire the numerous heritage flourishes, such as the gold brocade curtains and royal blue chaise longue, or indulge in a power shower in the ultra-modern ensuite.
The spacious family bathroom will have you feeling in the pink, blossoming with fuchsia linoleum and a blushing roll top bath, so take a dip under the sloping skylight while a fluffy towel heats on the rack. Next door, unleash your playful side in the single boy’s bedroom, or ascend to the second floor, where a princess-ready girl’s bedroom, luxurious bathroom and another generous double are hiding.
From your Highbury hub, explore the antiques trade of Islington, or the elegant expanse of Highbury Fields, then indulge in some retail therapy in the world famous Stables Market of Camden. Even closer to home, and a great attraction for younger guests, is the slice of country life to be savoured at Freightliners farm at Paradise Park. Get to the centre of London in just 13 minutes via the nearby Holloway Road underground station.
