STUNNING MEDIEVAL VILLAGE TOWNHOUSE CLOSE TO PERUGIA

Marsciano House Rental Photos and Description

Stylish four bedroom townhouse close to all amenities

This charming three-story townhouse sits prettily in the picturesque medieval village of Compignano, just 20 minutes south west of Perugia, Umbria’s capital. The property, which boasts four large double bedrooms and four en-suite bathrooms, is new on the rental market having been entirely gutted and beautifully renovated with gusto and style. It is very light throughout and has stunning views of the surrounding countryside as well as the village itself, as it sits right in the main piazza.

All the rooms have been carefully designed offering space, comfort and style throughout. One enters the main door and goes up the stairs onto the first floor where there is a fully-equipped hi-spec kitchen with an über-sized fireplace and dining table for eight, half a bathroom and a washing/dryer room. Across the corridor one finds a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom (with two sinks) and a large sitting room with a fireplace and a satellite (sky) plasma TV. The second floor offers a further three double bedrooms each with their own en-suite bathrooms, all (except one) with double sinks and power-showers.

As part of the charm of this property, the owner, who is a wine enthusiast, has converted a ground floor room into an artisan wine cellar (cantina) in which guests can help themselves to the local wine.

Casa Breccia boasts all mod cons such as wi-fi, hi definition satellite (sky) TV, air-conditioning, heating, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and oven.

The property also comes with a small neighbouring one-bedroom apartment for those guests who may wish to bring their nannies or personal staff.

Perugia International Airport is only 25 minutes away with four-weekly flights (three in the winter season) to London Stansted with Ryanair. The E45 two-lane highway is only 10 minutes away allowing easy access to the motorway network in central Italy.

This is a hidden gem. Beautifully restored 3 story spacious in-village residence. Wonderfully appointed rooms and great floor plan with main floor bedroom/ensuite, kitchen, living, bathroom and laundry. Upstairs has 3 BIG bedrooms and ensuites. Gorgeous modern and luxurious furnishings and the big kitchen with fireplace and every possible amenity. Check in and out was smooth and friendly and parking is just outside at the small Piazza. The downstairs "garage" area was neat and tidy with a big ancient double door opening on to a small terrace to the Umbrian views. There are no restaurants in the village but there is a small shop open a few mornings next door. The village is quiet and picturesque and a great walk around with friendly residents and doggies. Marsciano is just minutes away and we toured each day to Spoleto, Spello, Perugia, Todi, Assisi, and all the surrounding villages. This place could easily accommodate 4 couples, or a couple families. We loved our stay here, and prepared many dinners here and sat out on the lower terrace until dark. Wi fi worked great, and cell phones work great outside on the village wall. We loved the cool little wine cellar/cantina on a secret little mezzanine floor below. Character and charm, comfort and easy, true medieval architecture, this secret is out! Great Value!!

Compignano is a delightful medieval village with no more than 100 inhabitants. There is a coffee/bar in the main piazza and a small supermarket open twice a week. The immediate area is ideal for country walks or gentle bike rides. During the Christmas and the New Year period, the village plays host to a charming and well-known live nativity event in which locals dress up and re-enact the times of Christ. Very worthwhile seeing and one-of-a-kind!

Perugia itself plays host to a number of international events, the two most important and famous ones are the Umbria Jazz Festival in early July (2 weeks) and Eurochocolate (9 days) in mid October, where the whole town is transformed into one huge chocolate fest! Then, for the art enthusiast, there’s the renowned Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds (Festival dei due Mondi), which is usually held from late June to early July and offers classical music, theatrical shows, poetry readings, modern art exhibitions, etc

The house sits in the centre of Umbria enabling easy access for day trips and visit interesting and historic hill top towns, such as Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Spello, Spoleto, Todi, Trevi and Lake Trasimeno with its two idyllic islands. Across the Tuscan border, Cortona, Montepulciano and Arezzo (with its famous antiques market) are only an hour’s drive away.

There is no end of sightseeing for the enthusiastic art historian or picturesque views for the dreamy artist to paint. For those who are food or wine lovers there are many enotecas to visit and a good variety of restaurants.

One can play tennis or go cross-country riding nearby, or simply enjoy the surrounding areas by walking the nature reserve trails and doing a bit of bird watching. There are many scenic hillside routes for the cyclist, an 18-hole golf course 40 km away in Perugia and the possibility to fish, sail or windsurf on the nearby Lake Trasimeno.
