You are planning to travel to Amsterdam with your family, and you have never been here before. I can imagine you have a lot of questions: is this apartment in a safe neighboorhood? is there a supermarket nearby? where can I find an ATM? how long does it take from the airport? where can we rent bikes? how will I get the keys? ...
Well, I can answer all of those questions (and more) via skype today. Just contact me and I'll be more than happy to do that.
Here some info already about this apartment. Family Home is a lovely flat located nearby the park Westerpark and next to the famous Jordaan district and the centre. Because of its location, this home is ideal for families who are looking for a nice and peaceful stay, but at the same time want to enjoy the pleasure of living walking distance from the city centre. All sort of shops and supermarkets are around the corner, as well as restaurants, lunch rooms, take away, in particular in the nearby Westerstraat and Lindengracht (Jordaan area). The flat is on the 1st floor, and the stairs are quite ok: you don't need to worry about narrow and long stairs to climb with your luggage. It is a cosy and comfortable apartment, ideal for a small family, with a nice sitting and dining area where you can relax with your family watching a DVD after a long day of sightseeing. The stop of the bus going to central station is just across the street, you can see it from the window, and it takes only 10 minutes to get there. Overall from and to the airport it won't take you longer than 45 minutes. Around the corner there are some more stops of other trams and bus lines going to the museum area and other parts of the city. Within 5 minute walk you are in the famous Jordaan area, where on Saturdays and Mondays a popular market is held – in this neighbourhood you can also enjoy the most delicious apple pie and pancakes of the whole world! From the Jordaan you can have a stroll along the famous waterways weaving throughout the old city centre.
Here is what you can expect to find in the apartment: a dining wooden table with chairs and a bench, a comfortable sofa bed, a little side table and a flat screen TV hanging from the wall. The kitchen is fully equipped: here you’ll find everything you need to prepare your meals if you don't feel like eating out: oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. There are 2 double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a larger bed with large wardrobe and a night lamp. The children's bedroom is smaller, also with a double bed, a small closet, a chest of drawers and a night lamp. Even if the bathroom is small, there is room enough for a bathtub/shower in the corner, sink and WC of course. Hairdryer, towels, cleaning products and toilet paper are provided. The washing machine is in the kitchen. Internet wireless connection is available (free of charge). Is there anything else you need to know? Just ask.
I am Italian but live in Amsterdam since 2000. I love this city and enjoy cruising around with my bike. I know every corner of it! I also love travelling to places where I know someone who can show me around and help me feel like a local, not just a tourist!
Many years ago I started to rent out my home to other travellers because I wanted to share my love and knowledge for Amsterdam and show what a great place it can be just with a bike and tips from a local. I truly hope you can enjoy Amsterdam as much as I do.
I'll do my best to make you feel at home here. How do I do it? First of all giving you a detailed map with loads of tips about restaurants, museums, coffee places where only locals go. Secondly providing you with tickets for anything you would like to see in advance, to avoid you waste of time. Transport cards, bikes, reservations for restaurants... Anything you might need!
I now manage other self-catered apartments in the city. If my home is already booked I can always offer you some alternative. Friendly and professional: that's what best describes my work ethics. Looking forward to welcoming you here.
Stefania Papaccioli purchased this apartment in 2008
I really like this apartment because of its cozyness and location, between the Jordaan and Westerpark, the niciest neghbourhoods of Amsterdam; moreover it is just a few minutes walk from my favourite restaurants and cafe's such as Winkel, where they bake the best apple pie you will ever try, and Cinema Paradiso and Toscanini, 2 of the best Italian restaurants in town.
Location is fantastic, bus stop just in front of the door. Jordaan and canals are nearby, you can go on foot. There is a great market on Sat and Mon There is also a great restaurant/cafe` on the corner, called Vlinders. They have great sandwiches for lunch and the best ravioli for dinner. The cook is Italian ;-) There are 2 separate bedrooms, and that allows having privacy even if you are with 4 guests.
Westerpark Delight is located nearby the trendy park Westerpark, which gives its name to the area, and a few minutes from the famous Jordaan area and the centre. From central station you can reach the apartment in about 10 minutes with the bike or the bus (18 or 21). With tram 3 or 10 you can easily and fast (12 minutes) get to Leidseplein or to the museum area. With just a 5 minute walk you are in the famous Jordaan area, where on Saturdays and Mondays a popular market is held – with 5 more minutes’ walk you can enjoy a stroll along the famous waterways weaving throughout the old city centre.
