Local Attractions:
Orleans is the gateway to the lower Cape. The town operates three public beaches: 1. Nauset Beach on the Atlantic Ocean side of the Cape features big surf, pristine sand dunes, bath houses, and Liam's Seafood. 2. Skaket Beach on Cape Cod Bay features warm water, miles of sand flats for walking at low tide, a popular snack shack, and bath houses. 3. Pilgrim Lake is a fresh water lake with a large beach, swimming lessons in the morning, and a bath house. You are also a short ride to the first beach of the National Seashore - Coast Guard Beach.
Other Attractions:
There are many recreational activities on the lower Cape. Orleans has two entrances to the Cape Cod Bike Path with a bike rental place in the center of town. There are three conservation areas that feature well maintained walking paths and beautiful views of little Pleasant Bay. Orleans has many shopping opportunities and you are a short ride to beautiful down-town Chatham. Evening activities include the Cape Cod Baseball League games, live theatre at the Academy Playhouse, and several local concert series.
Crystal Lake:
Our little house is located on beautiful Crystal Lake, one of the most popular swimming lakes on the Cape. Kayaks, life-jackets, a swim float, and comfortable seating make it wonderful place to spend the afternoon.
