Tapolca Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description
3 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms 2 Kitchen/Diners, Large Sitting Room, sleeps 8
Set in the beautiful Nemzeti National Park in the Kali Medence region of Hungary, just 12kl North of Lake Balaton is situated the picturesque village of Szentbekkalla, where our 110 years old stone built farmhouse stands.
The house is near the edge of the village and as it stands in a walled garden with many trees which give shade in the summer, you will have the privacy to enjoy sunbathing and eating out in the garden during your stay. The centre of the village is within a two minute walk, where you will have access to a public wifi connection, a shop, restaurants and a coffee house and bar. Every Saturday evening during the summer months, a classical concert is held in the church. Not only do you get to hear superb music played by professional musicians but you will also have the pleasure of sitting in one of the most beautiful church.
The house itself has wooden beams, vaulted ceilings, wood floors and very thick walls which keep it nice and cool during the summer months. If it does get cooler in the evening [which is highly unlikely] there is a log burner in the sitting room and electric heating in the bedrooms.
The main house has:
Two bedrooms, a double, and one with three single beds and an available cot. A farmhouse kitchen/dining room with a large shower room leading from it. The shower room has a washing machine installed. A large sitting room, with log burner. There is a CD player, board games, books and tourist information leaflets available here. From the sitting room it is a step down to the bedroom with the single beds.
The annex has:
A modern kitchen/diner, with a fridge and hob. A small shower room, with toilet and basin. A large bedroom, with one single bed and one three quarter bed [which will easily sleep two people] a settee, comfortable chair, desk and wardrobe.
There are tables and chairs in the garden, and seven bicycles so that you can explore the wonderful countryside in this region. The vineyards, hills, volcanic cones and our own local beauty spot called the Kortenger [Sea of Stones], which is on the edge of the village between Szentbekkalla and Mindszentkalla. When you visit the stones, you will also notice a polo field, where twice a year you could go and watch a polo match [great fun, and free!]. Every Sunday there is a large farmers/craft/antique market at Kaptalantoti, which is just 7 minutes drive away from Szentbekkalla. Another event not to be missed! In July and August, many of the villages have their village days, music and wine festivals. All of these ensure you will have a wonderful and memorable holiday.
Another aspect of your time here will be visits to some of the many Strands [grass covered beaches] that lie along the coast of Lake Balaton. You can spend the day swimming and sunbathing, however there are other activities on offer if you want to be a little more active. You can also buy food and drink at one of the many buffets on site, and there are usually playgrounds provided for young children. There are also changing facilities and showers. You pay around about 400 forint entry to one of these Strands for the whole day. Parking is usually free but you do need to get there reasonably early to get a good parking space [in the high season!] There are Strands all along the coast of Balaton [North and South] so plenty to choose from.
The house has been restored and is comfortably furnished with antiques. This is the 8th year of letting and is managed by a couple in the village who will be on hand to help with any enquires. The neighbours in the village and the staff at the shop, Presso and restaurants are very friendly and supportive. They really appreciate having visitors in the village and are most welcoming.
