A perfect place for a dream romantic get away in the heart of the Eternal City, the tower was build in the thirteenth century as a watchtower, a defensive element. In the second half of the fourteenth century around the tower where aggregated two palazzetti (small buildings) for a lavish wedding that would have tied the family to the Pope's nephew.
The apartment is composed on three levels within the tower in the fourth floor without a lift, not suitable for small children or elderly.
On the first level one enters a luminous large open space of forty sq m. all lit by three windows and bathed in a surreal way by the light coming from a skylight, comfortable and beautifully decorated with art and antiques with a living-dining area and an American kitchen fully equipped, a hallway which leads to a monastic style master bedroom, all white except an splendid polychrome hexagonal tile floors, a dressing room, a desk corner and the spacious luminous bathroom (bathtub)!
Second level: an spiral stairs leads you inside the tower to a study / guest room studio with a double sofa bed, from the studio one can exit to the splendid private roof terrace of 65 sq m. Almost touching the dome of Borromini church ST. Agnes. Between plants and lemon trees, a couple of lounging chairs, a large dining table, an unforgettable overlooking the rooftops of Rome. A shed houses the second small kitchen and a second bathroom just outside a sink and a barbecue.
Third level: a spiral staircase that leads to the top of the tower a crown of battlements covered. From this point, a breath-taking view almost all of Rome: St. Peter, the Quirinal Palace, the Senate, a view of Piazza Navona, the bell tower of Santa Maria Del'anima the back of S. Louis of the French. Up to Gianicolo and the statue of Garibaldi.
Prior to arrival, we recieved great communications and information from the agent. There was also flexibility on arrival / departure time too suit us, as our flights choices were limited to Rome. The agent organised a private transfer for us from and to the airport - well worth the expense, for that hassle free holiday.
What a fabulous apartment, we were not dissappointed. The owner met us and showed us round. Excellent facilities, spotlessly clean and everything we could ever need. Beautiful artwork and furniture, and every comfort. The private roof terrace is amazing. Lots of space to relax, and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells from the streets below. No need to go downstairs , as there was a BBQ, sink, fridge even a loo, accessible from the terrace. Loved our little lizard friends who visited us every night and basked in the heat from the spotlights. What more could you ask for than your own private medieval tower? Up another level to the tower and the views were amazing. It was like stepping back in time and becoming a part of the history of this amazing building.
The location is perfect. We never used any public transport and walked everywhere! Piazza Navona is beautiful , but go a few streets further back for that smaller , less busy but equally high quality restuarant or ice cream shop.
You will love La Torre. Its the most expensive holiday we have had, but it was for a special wedding anniversary and well worth it. The agent and the owner could not have done any more for us to make it an unforgettable holiday. Would highly reccommend.
The property is very well located just off the Piazzo Navona and situated near many well equipped restaurants geared at capitalizing on the high tourist traffic. It is walking distance to many of the best attractions in Rome, which is very convenient. The bones of the property are beautiful: The primary residence is on the top floor of the building (Be prepared to climb many stairs every time you return), with modern amenities and a decent sized bathroom and bedroom. The rooftop was by far the best part (and most used) element of the property. It is large and fully equipped with BBQ, bathroom, shower, and sink. The tower itself is accessed from the rooftop and adds an additional two stories of usable space if you happen to be sleeping additional people or require some privacy.
This apartment offers a real taste of Historic Rome. Not only is it in an historic classified building, it benefits from Medieval, classic proportions of its Tower all of which make for an unmatchable Roman experience.
