We stayed at "At Leisure" for the first time in 2006. What a wonderful experience...a beautiful setting in a quaint and cozy log home, with a lovely view of the bay. We've fallen in love with Beaver Island, St. James, and At Leisure, and have resolved to return every summer for at least a week.

This cabin is an ideal place to stay on Beaver Island.
Very well maintained, it provides great amenities in
addition to a view of Lake Michigan and the passing
harbor traffic. A short bike ride takes you to most
things needed during your stay—the grocery store,
fishmonger, coffee shop, restaurants, and even free
wireless internet near the school. Pedaling a bit
longer takes you to Donegal Bay, which has one of
the nicest sandy beaches on the island. Despite the
cabin’s proximity to these conveniences, you still
enjoy the unhurried atmosphere and
gregariousness (be prepared to wave to everyone)
of a small village as well as the surrounding natural
environment. For both active sightseeing trips and
relaxing vacations, this is a great place to stay on
Beaver Island.

Our family of 4 absolutely loved our stay at Beaver Island. We have 2 children ages 10 and 13. They enjoyed this trip as much as our trip to Disneyland!! It was the first time my kids have gone 4 days without TV or video games and DIDN'T fight.
The scenery and nature are awesome. There is so much to see and do all over the island. You will want to take a vehicle and probably bikes. You don't want to miss out on seeing anything. The way of life on the island is the best part of all. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the lifestyle is so laid back. This is truly a relaxing vacation get away. The owner made sure that everything was taken care of before we got there and the cottage is terrific; clean, nicely equipped, quiet and even has a fireplace. It has everything you need and more. Pack a bag of clothes and a cooler, and you are all set. There is nothing better than sitting on the deck watching the boats come and go from the Lake Michigan harbor in front of you. It is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places you will ever visit. I highly recommend this family get away regardless of the ages of your children. We plan to return again this summer and many summers to come.

Beaver Island provided us with one of the most peaceful vacations we've taken. Staying in the Rosema log cabin and listening to the Lake Michigan waves was wonderful - be sure to sleep with the window open! The cabin is very comfortable and well equiped - even has a washer and dryer so you don't need to take a lot of clothes.

There are miles of forest roads and hiking paths to explore and several inland lakes you can fish in on the Island. Buying fresh whitefish from the Native American fisherman was very cool, and tasty, too!

I would highly recommend this one if you're looking to get away from it all. There is a grocery store,a couple of bar/restaurants and some cute shops on the Island but mostly you need to want to go for the nature and serenity.

The owner was very nice to work with - no problems at all and seemed very interested in making sure we had all of the information we needed to have a great time. Be sure to book your ferry ride as early as possible - a car is a must to see the beautiful sunsets at Donegal Bay and the lighthouse on the Southern end of the Island.

What a wonderful place to stay! When we arrived the first time I was extremely pleased to find a well-maintained, richly textured, beautiful log cabin with a fireplace and an extraordinary view. Not only is Beaver Island a wonderful place to be with its history, traditions and fun, but you couldn't pick a better place to stay for your adventure. Every morning we woke up to the sound of nature and the Lake, and sat on the deck with our coffee to enjoy the ambiance. Each day there we explored; the town, the countryside and the shoreline. In the evening an outdoor fire by the water at the cabin or a short trip to town was great fun. This cabin could not have been a more well-suited place for us. We'll be back time and time again!
