The description of the house and property was accurate. Everything was clean and tidy. Property owner was very helpful answering any questions and concerns. He provided ample help regarding places to go and things to do. We actually brought too many things with us. Basically everything was supplied. An overall great experience! I have already recommended this location to a neighbor.
This is a perfect house for visiting the cape. We have gone to Provincetown, Martha's Vineyard, Hyannis, etc while staying here. It's very reasonably priced and has a great fenced-in back yard. Our dog loved it! We hate to go on vacation without our dog so this house works great . Front porch awesome...outdoor shower heaven. We have gone to a few of the local beaches. Our favorite is South Cape State Beach. We have taken the canoe into the bay a couple of times for fun. One drawback - no internet. Although the owner promises it for next year. We have stayed at this houe twice now (2007 and 2008) and plan on returning again in 2009. We believe this will continue to be our yearly summer vacation for years to come and its honestly the hightlight of our summer. The people who own the house could not be nicer or more accommodating. We absolutely love coming here!
We were disappointed! Yes, the house was spotlessly clean, and yes, the view from the front porch was lovely, but what they don’t tell you is you can’t access the beach from that vantage point – it’s a private club! Yes, you can walk to the town boat landing, but there is not enough beach to sit on. It’s more like a boat parking lot, and you certainly wouldn’t want to swim there with boats coming and going. We think the wording in the ad is misleading: “Walk over to bay beach area and sit, swim or clam” is a real stretch. To get to a “real beach” you have to drive, and parking rates are $7 - $20/day. The ad offers Dish TV/Cable, but the dish hasn’t worked in several years and the cable is VERY limited to only a few channels. The ad promises internet access, but there is no working telephone. (The owners should post emergency numbers since no phone means no 911 access.) The ad promises a stereo, but the stereo is broken and the antennae was missing from the kitchen radio. House wiring is old, so you can’t run the air conditioners and your hair dryer at the same time, and the fan was broken. When we arrived there wasn’t even toilet paper in the bathrooms – bad news after a long car ride. While this house is a nice getaway, we feel the owners overpromised and underdelivered.
The house is great! Quiet and convenient location with a nice fenced garden for the kids to play in. The house was clean when we arrived and we found that there was plenty of room for us - 5 adults and 2 children. We enjoyed day trips to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Hyannis, nearby beaches and cycling to Woods Hole. Our favorite place to eat was the Landfall Restaurant in Woods Hole - try the scallops and the huge desserts! The house has books, magazines, games and local tourist info. The bbq was great - spare full gas tank was already available. I would definetlely recommend this house and the location! Only downside - master bedroom doesn't have a window air conditioner so you have to leave the door open to keep it cool!
