Photos and Description of the Rieti Province vacation apartment rental
Apartments 1-4 (Sleeps 11)

Colle Borgo is a beautiful farm set in a temperate climate surrounded by terraces landscaped with olive trees and green woodland stretching for miles across the hills and valleys of the Sabine region.

The farm was used in the past as the 'aia' (threshing floor) of the village, the place where the peasants gathered to clean wheat and to bake bread in a brick oven which still works. In 1980, the current owners restored it with passion and care to its original beauty. The overall atmosphere is that of a quiet, rural place that makes you feel very much at home.

The property consists of three buildings where four separate, cosy self-catering apartments are available for rental. Each apartment is independent from the other, with breathtaking views of the Farfa and Tiber Rivers Valley and original old stone structure, terracotta floors, wooden ceiling beams and fire places.

Each apartment is comfortable and fully equipped (from Satellite TV and Internet), decorated with traditional Sabine country antique furnishings - and has a private furnished garden, equipped with barbecue grill, perfect for al fresco dining. The shared swimming pool is set in an elevated position, with panoramic views of the valley and the Sabine hills.

Colle Borgo is an ideal location for experiencing traditional Italy with family and friends. It is a great property for friends or families to have flexible, independent living space while still being able to share communal spaces.

The Villa

This rural paradise is in 10 hectares of private parkland, olive groves, cherry tree orchards and oak forests down to the river Montenero. The land is farmed using natural organic methods for the production of extra-virgin olive oil (harvest October/December), cherries (ripe for the picking in June) and vegetables. The nearby woods are ideal for walks and feature the opportunity for mushroom picking during the autumn. Wine and olive oil tasting events are held in the owners little restaurant by arrangement.

In late October through to mid December Colle Borgo can arrange for its guests to visit the modern mill where virgin oil is squeezed from the olives ripe blackened shells and taste some of the delicious food on offer.

Local Area

The local village of Casaprota is a medieval village (600 inhabitants) situated in the heart of the Sabine region, between Via Salaria (the ancient Roman salt road) and the Sabine Hills.

The first traces of the village date back to the Roman period. Its social and economic life is profoundly shaped by two elements: its huge source of water which serve the aqueduct of the city of Rome and olive oil.

The ancient traditions of Sabine, entwined with religion and agriculture, can still be experienced in Casaprota. From early spring, to late autumn, the village is filled with a festive atmosphere, culminating with beautiful fireworks. Don't miss these events if you want to get a feel for the old Italy and enjoy typical local gastronomic specialities.

A horse riding school, a public sports centre (3 clay tennis courts, mini football pitch, 2 swimming pools, 1 beach volleyball court, 3 ping pong tables) and several nature and archaeological itineraries are just some of the local attractions for visitors.

Sabina Region

Fifty kilometres North-East of Rome, following the eastern bank of the Tiber River and the Sabine Hills, lies the territory of Sabina.

The Sabina region is still authentic and unspoilt, untouched by mass tourism. It is a magical land of legends, castles, medieval towns connected by winding country roads, elegant restaurants, family run taverna and breath-taking scenery wherever you go.

Riding schools, golf courses immersed in the green countryside, along with Mount Terminillo ski resorts and several walking and cycling routes are all available to sports enthusiasts.

The Franciscan sanctuaries; the Farfa Abbey for centuries a witness to the power of the Roman Church; the Romanesque churches of Vescovio and Santa Vittoria; the archaeological sites and ancient Roman town of Trebula Mutuesca and Forum Novum as well as, the national parks and lakes, and the capital city Rieti are also among the many attractions in Sabina.

Rome is a 45 minute drive or 50 minutes train ride with very easy access to the Rome International Airports of Fiumicino and Ciampino.

From the villa, within one hour's drive, you can reach the most important artistic sights of central Italy, such as Rome, Tivoli, Viterbo, Tarquinia, Spoleto, Orvieto and Assisi.
