**KEUKA LAKE - LEVEL WATERFRONT ON THE WINE TRAIL**

Barrington Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath,

A wonderful find on sparkling Keuka Lake! Located on the desirable Eastern shore across from the Bluff, you will enjoy a large natural wade-in beach front and panoramic views of the lake from windows stretching the length of the cottage. Let the sound of the lake lull you into relaxation mode!

****See our website for many more photos and helpful links. The link to it is below, just below owner info.****

Amenities:

A large porch running the length of the cottage has an eagle view of the lake and the beach directly in front. It is perfect for reading, playing board games, watching the kids play on the shore, or just gazing at the lake. A queen bed nestled at one end of the porch lets you drift off to the sound of the waves, and wake to a glorious view of the lake. Inside find a cozy living room, a bedroom with queen bed, kitchen and bath (both recently updated). In the boathouse below you'll find an extra full-size refrigerator (perfect for your beach picnic needs), a washer and dryer, and a wide assortment of items for your convenience, from life jackets to water shoes.

All beds have mattress pads, pillows, launderable pillow covers, blankets, and comforters. Guests bring their own linens unless otherwise arranged.

Kitchen is fully equipped. For your outside enjoyment find a dock, picnic table, beach bonfire pit, and an anchored float.

Lazy, sunny summer days abound, but spring and fall on Keuka Lake are beautiful too. Curl up by the gas fireplace with a book, or visit nearby wineries, festivals, and attractions. Each season offers its own charm.

Activities and Attractions:

Fish from the dock, or bring your boat ... swim, boat, kayak, canoe, or just sunbathe on your floatable on the lake, on the dock, or on our large anchored float... Boats are acceptable and there is a launch very nearby. Dozens of wineries dot both sides of the lake, and don't miss gorgeous Watkins Glen State Park, just 20 minutes away.

Or visit the incredible Corning Glass museum; the Windmill (a large farm and craft market featuring Mennonite goods and crafts, 10 minutes away); the Glenn Curtiss museum in Hammondsport; and glider rides and the Soaring Museum at Harris Hill. Our website has a much more extensive list and links to the area.

About Lisa

This cottage was in our family for several generations before it was sold. The new owners carefully updated and improved that which needed it, while still retaining the laid-back cottage flavor. We were joyous when the opportunity came up to repurchase it, and wish to share the cottage, that great beach and view, and the whole Keuka experience with others.

Lisa purchased this cottage in 2013

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sunlight is our alarm clock (and if only that could be the case all year long rather than just this week), and it streams gently through the wall of windows that look out over the lake to the ‘Bluff’ beyond. I pad through the kitchen grabbing a cup of coffee from the Keurig (nice touch!) and make my way to the dock for my morning dip (I would have slept in a bathing suit if it were at all comfortable). The lake is crystal clear and refreshing and by the time I swim to the neighbor’s float and back I am alive and well and ready to face a full day of relaxation and rejuvenation.

Fully equipped (cable TV, wifi, non-motorized boats and kayaks) and just the right amount of rustic blend to create perfect authenticity and convenience. How I envy the lucky family that grew up here.

Evening cocktails accompany the grilling of epicurean meats from Morgan’s in Penn Yan and local corn. The meal is accompanied by the obligatory bottle of local wine (the list of wineries and varieties are extensive although we’re partial to Dr. Frank’s for chardonnay and Anthony Road for pinot noir).

Lather, rinse, repeat…has a week gone by already???? Sign us up for next year.

Great family weekend away

  • 5 of 5
I grew up on Keuka Lake and over the last few years have made a point to spend an extended weekend with my family on this Lake. Of the 5 Major Finger Lakes, this is certainly the most family/child safe, and cleanest of them all. The process was easy to book and the owners were extremely hospitable. We had the fortune to meet them and they were very kind throughout our stay.

With regard to the cottage itself, all I will say is the kids still have not stopped talking about this particular stay on the lake. There was more than enough space for a family of five, it was well cared for, and offered lots of activities for everyone. The cottage comes equipped with wi-fi, Kayaks, a canoe, and rowboat. On the beach was a fire pit, picnic tables, deck chairs, dock, and gas grill as well as complete use of water shoes and life jackets. My daughters were proud of themselves for kayaking for the first time, and my older son, a good family friend and myself made the trek across the lake and back in the kayaks. For anyone not interested in water sports, within a few miles are several locally owned wineries available for tours and tastings. I believe we have finally found the place we will be using for all future trips to Keuka Lake. I can't recommend this place enough!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the wonderful review. We were so happy to see that you enjoyed the cottage and Keuka Lake. They both mean so much to us. It gives us great pleasure to see families enjoying themselves and continuing the traditions my grandparents started for us. We hope to see you back again soon.

Wonderful fall family stay - highly recommend

  • 5 of 5
We'd been to this cottage before, but in a different season... Owner keeps the cottage in top shape, it was immaculate and welcoming when we arrived. We love summer visits to Keuka Lake, but think now spring and fall will be the seasons for us! The view of the lake and the fall colors on the Bluff just never got old. We did manage to tear ourselves away to go to some wineries, lunch at Bully Hill, Watkins Glen, and visits to old friends. Appreciated the owner leaving the kayaks out for us even late in the season. In fact the owner was great to work with at every turn. We love that lots of the original cottage is intact - it's a simple, authentic cottage and we love the many original windows, the ceilings, the wood plank floors - but also loved the clean lines of the updated kitchen, bath, having tv & wi-fi. It was a retreat when all we wanted to do was sit on the beach and listen to the water, and cozy when we wanted the heat on or the fireplace and tv at night. Almost hate to share what a nice visit we had, don't want too many people discovering this gem! We'll definitely be back.

Picturesque Spot on Keuka

  • 5 of 5
We loved this place - it's a nice mix of updated and functional with old school furnishings and ambiance. The cotttage was extremely clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was comfortable as was the overall layout of the cottage. It was such a joy to wake and go to bed up to the sounds of the lake lapping against the shore line. We also had good luck fishing of the dock, which was so nice. The cottage is well situated and close to Keuka and Seneca lake wineries and restaurants. It's close to the Curtiss Museum and a short drive to both Corning and Ithaca. The proprietor, Lisa, was responsive to questions leading up to our stay and returned our security deposit promptly after our stay. The best thing we can say it that "we'll be back."

Our week at the cottage was wonderful! I traveled with four children, ages 12-14, and they all had a great time. We swam, tubed, kayaked, hiked, walked to the ice cream shop, fished, shopped, had nightly campfires, played games inside and out-I know I'm forgetting something! The cottage was clean, well-stocked and included water toys (kayaks, rowboat, rafts, etc.) that we thoroughly enjoyed. The owners were more than accommodating with anything we needed. Do yourself a favor and book a week at The Red Doors!

New Englanders coming to New York

We had an increadly peaceful, calm escape from the working world in this beautiful, quite cottage. My wife and I, along with our three sons enjoyed the beach front with a rather cool swim, and the incredible view up the lake from the kitchen table. It is easy to get to with quiet, comfortable accomodations. We strongly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit the area for a quiet relaxed getaway on the waterfront. We thorooughly enjoyed it and will definitly stay again when we have a chance.

Awesome Cottage!

  • 5 of 5
We love Keuka Lake and this cottage is in a perfect spot! The view that greeted us when we walked in blew us away -- we never tired of it, and loved the sound of the water. We met up with old friends, shared wine and laughs, and in general.... just exhaled. We needed this. The cottage was clean, well appointed, and absolutely charming. The owners are wonderful and the love and care shows. Can't wait to book a week in the fall and see the Bluff with the fall colors. Hope to come back many times in future years. Thanks for everything!
