In Old Orchard Beach, pets cannot go on the beach during certain daytime hours in summertime due to OOB rules. Whole house rental will sleep 12 utilizing sleep sofa, futon & cot and parking for 4 in driveway and more on street. Pets allowed.
Old Orchard has the best beach around. There are restaurants, clubs, amusements & gift shops within walking distance from this house. From the beach area, it’s about 5 miles to Funtown which is a theme park & water park; about 7 miles to the Aquaboggin, a water park; about 10 minutes to major supermarkets. Saco is half-way between Kittery & Freeport for outlet shopping; 20 minutes to South Portland to a major mall and 20 minutes to Portland. Only about 1-1/2 hours or so from the Boston area.
Ocean Park (is part of Old Orchard) & Pine Point is in Scarborough- about 1-1/2 miles north of Old Orchard. Both are also similar areas - both are very popular areas and definitely family oriented.
Saco Beaches Nearby:
Ferry Beach &Camp Ellis where the Saco River meets the ocean are 3 miles south of Old Orchard. At Camp Ellis there are 3 local restaurants, a bait & tackle shop, a mile-long jetty to fish from or just to walk on, a large dock with both fishing & pleasure boats in the harbor. You can also fish right off Surf St. in Ferry Beach at high tide or off the beach itself. Camp Ellis is a 'Fishing Village' area now dotted with newly-remodeled homes and some of the older ones still here. It is still an active fishing area for commercial lobstermen & fishermen. You can go to the docks and watch both fishing vessels and pleasure boats. Nearby is the Camp Ellis General Store which features daily lobster catch & also serves a great breakfast. You can also buy lobsters directly from the Fishing Optician at “boat prices”. Whale watching & deep sea fishing boats leave from the docks in Camp Ellis. Kayak rentals are nearby for use on the Saco River which goes out to the ocean at Saco Bay.
