About Ursula de Pierrebourg

Gael & Ursula Harty de Pierrebourg spent most of their lives in the United States. They decided to move to the Dordogne region called ' Perigord Noir' for it's striking beauty, climate, pristine rivers and forests, history, and of course great food and wine.

Ursula de Pierrebourg purchased this chateau / country house in 2009

Why Ursula de Pierrebourg chose Marnac

Our beloved Chateau de Mirabel is a jewel sitting atop a hill with unique panoramic views in the heart of an area studded with medieval castles and villages. It is a rare spot on this planet.

Anywhere you go you will stumble on a piece of history: a hidden fortress , a 12th century church, a Roman bread oven and foot steps of Early Man.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

This is a very cosmopolitan area. The population includes lots of British and Dutch people as well as Americans and Australians.

You will never get bored. This area offers cultural events all year round. Also, you can enjoy hiking, ballooning, horse back ridding, canoeing, bicycling, local markets with its wholesome foods.

Visiting the Bergerac, Perchamant and Monbazillac Vineyards is a treat.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Finding a place to suit us, two teenage children and grandparents can be a difficult task so Chateau de Mirabel was a great discovery. It's an ideal retreat and a beautiful place where you could happily spend hours in the elegant living room or gardens - but there's plenty to do in the immediate surroundings and of course there's a great pool and tennis court.

Gael and Ursula are excellent hosts who stayed up to welcome us after a long journey and were always on hand if we needed anything. They made it feel like it was ours for the two weeks we were there and we would have no hesitation in recommending this special place. We loved it.
