This Green Valley stand-alone home is quiet, clean, and comfortable. Green Valley is located about 20 miles south of Tucson with a desert climate that is typically sunshiny and warm. The home is in the Villages, an age-restricted community, requiring that at least one resident be over 55. It is about one-and-one-half blocks from local community center containing a lovely pool and spa, tennis courts, shuffleboard, and many activities. We are not members of GVR. It is a wonderful neighborhood with friendly neighbors and many activities.
The stand-alone house has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and bath with a roomy shower. There is a double-size bed in the second bedroom. There are TVs with remotes in both bedrooms.
The house has been remodeled including new tile floors, completed in September of 2009. The breakfast nook has a table which comfortably seats two. The table in the adjoining dining room seats four to six. In the living room you will find comfortable seating and an entertainment center with cable TV, a DVD player, and VCR. A wall of patio doors look out on to a private walled backyard with mountain views and a patio containing an eating area and gas barbecue. For convenience the pantry/laundry room off the kitchen has ample room for storage. High speed wireless internet is included but there is not a computer in the house at this time.
The pool and community center is within walking distance and nearby you will find grocery stores, drug stores and everything else you will need to make your stay comfortable. There is easy access to I-19 and downtown Green Valley. Surrounding Green Valley are many golf courses and other points of interest in the area such as Madeira Valley, renowned for bird watching, the Desert Museum, the Tubac artist colony and Kartchner Caverns State Park. Nogales, Mexico, is approximately 40 miles south. The sun shines over 330 days a year in Arizona so your umbrella will not be needed. Mt. Lemmon, north of Tucson, is the southern-most ski area in the continental United States.

We like the Tucson area. There are numerous museums and parks and the access is convenient from Green Valley. Green Valley has a community feeling that is pleasant and welcoming. Although the area is growing, it is still not as 'metropolitan' as the busy Phoenix area, yet has many of the same features, including a great aiport.
One of the main features of this property is the convenient access to shopping and restaurants, downtown Green Valley, and the city of Tucson. The friendly neighborhood feeling is evident when you drive into the area. The views of the mountains from the patio provide a pleasant outdoor experience as well. We spend a great deal of time at the pool/community center when we are here as it is within walking distance.
Everything was "as advertised." The home is very comfortable and, most importantly, has a large covered patio and enclosed back yard. Very convenient to letting the other member of our family out in the morning. Doves coo during the day and spring and summer heat are tolerable in the shade. Javelinas supposedly are in the area but we never saw any. The swimming pool is a block away and well-maintained. Also important are nearby shopping centers. If you like Mexican food (and we do), this is the place to visit and shop. But also realize that this area is a mecca for retirees and there are tons of gray-haired people around. Younger couples might look elsewhere if night life is important to you. Sadly, we do not feel crossing over into nearby Mexico is advisable at this time. Some people say it's safe to go into the interior but a deputy sheriff working nearby told us to stay on this side of the border. We still visited the border town and nearby art colonies, but noted the presence of border patrol agents up and down the corridor between Mexico and Tucson. As a retired cop, I did not feel uncomfortable anywhere but I also opt on the side of caution when I get near a questionable border. Tucson is very close and the Mexican/Spanish culture is evident everywhere. There are also many remote areas to explore in the backcountry. Feel free to contact us about this facility or area.
The home was exceptionally clean and well-maintained -- certainly as advertised and more. Living here for two weeks was a great experience and my wife and I will return again next year. It's been very quiet, which is what we were looking for, and the owner is a professional who has been very good to work with.
Highlights include more or less rural living (as opposed to living in Tucson or -- heaven forbid, Phoenix!), yet all the conveniences are here and just a few blocks away.
The swimming pool is close (although I haven't shown off my pecs there yet!), and my wife and I have mainly spent our time in the Saguaro National Park and elsewhere in the desert. The neighbors are friendly without being intrusive and we plan to relocate here (or somewhere near here) in the future, which is about the best recommendation a person can give.
