It’s always difficult to fully appreciate a vacation home sight unseen, yet the great photos are totally accurate! The setting is relatively private. With 6 adults & 2 children, the house was extremely comfortable, spacious, & full of all the key amenities we really needed to provide our group an almost ideal setting for our week's getaway.
I say almost ideal because I would not consider it a “beach” property, which we were really hoping for. Sadly, the spectacular views are now fairly obscured due to recent condo developments. A "short walk" to Herring Cove is arguable depending on your physical capability (as well as having children in tow.) The big downside for us was ongoing construction on the new condos that started each weekday morning between 7:30-8am...so much for sleeping in! This was certainly not the fault of the owners, just really bad timing for us.
The good news – and it far outweighs the above comments! The two 1st floor bedrooms are quite spacious with full tub/shower bathrooms. The 3rd bedroom on the patio lower-level is the smallest. Its bathroom has a shower only & the laundry room sits off this bathroom. But hey – there’s a laundry room, which is hugely beneficial!! The upstairs is a glorious open room with another full bath, more than ample kitchen & sitting areas. It is open & airy with windows galore for wonderful cross breezes – not to mention spectacular viewing of the lightening abundant thunderstorm we had one night.
Having safe & free parking onsite was also a bonus. Gale Force Bikes is very conveniently located down Bradford Street and with a basket on one of the bikes we rented; grocery shopping by bike was very doable.
Once we got the lay of the land, there were two good, easy walking routes into town. The real find was learning that we could use the beach & pool at Provincetown Inn, which is a short walk by road. We also took the spectacular (& not easy) walk down the rocks of the breakwater that leads to two of the three lighthouses (Woods End and Long Point); we didn’t quite make it to the lighthouse, but we’ll plan better next time! We rented kayaks from Flyers, also a close walk – very reasonable rates and perfect location to cruise the bay. Restaurant tip: Victors!!! A fairly new tapas-style restaurant & absolutely brilliant menu! A short walk up Bradford Street & highly recommended!
So all in all, the house and location are pretty darn close to ideal. Great job, guys. We’ll come back for sure!!
