The building dates from 1792 and was built by the Diocese of Pisa, for about a century, it was used as an orphanage, then at the end of 1800 he became commercial on the ground floor, where he was made a bakery and residential floors and in the attic. It is in this attic Dirce was born, and was the first lucky girl (not an orphan) that the building housed. Dirce lived by them before with his family and then alone for nearly 100 years.
The Attic of Dirce today: Located in the historic center of Pietrasanta, 50 meters from Piazza del Duomo, the third and last floor of a building completely renovated in 1700. The attic overall measure 100 square meters, of which 15 sqm terrace overlooking Via Stagio Stagi one of the most beautiful and characteristic of the center and from which you can enjoy a wonderful view that extends from the roofs of Pietrasanta until the pine woods of Versilia, close to the sea. A wrought iron gate between the second and third floors of the property borders the attic of Dirce, which has the exclusive use of the last flight of stairs and the landing, a space more fully at the disposal of the apartment. The Attic of Dirce, being free on all four sides and having windows in every room, is very bright, unlike most of the buildings of the historic center. E 'consists of a sitting room, large dining room carved in the old kitchen and still has the old fireplace, a kitchen, a bathroom with large shower, two spacious bedrooms, one double and one twin. The loft has been tastefully renovated in 2011 and furnished using only antiques, art, modern art, design, furniture, salvaged industrial and artisanal, old metal signs and posters. Some of the objects that constitute the furniture of the Attic Dirce may also be, on request, purchased. Finally, the attic is equipped with a parking space for the exclusive use in the vicinity of the building.
Small city of art, culture and charm at the foot of the Apuan Alps, a stone's throw from the beaches of Versilia; Pietrasanta is at present the most exclusive resort in the area, as opposed to luxury and pomp of Forte dei Marmi, which is only 7 km.
Since Botero, Mitoraj and other international artists have elected to their home, the most important Italian art galleries have opened here its own exhibition space, attracting a lover of Italian and international tourism and good food.
The city center is full of old buildings for pedestrians only and the evening comes alive thanks to the many shops, bars and restaurants, creating a unique atmosphere.
At the same time, thanks to its strategic location, Pietrasanta is a good base for visiting many other prestigious resorts of Tuscany as the nearby Pisa and Lucca or Florence and Siena or to spend a few relaxing days at sea in one of the many beaches of the coast.
