Part of Palisades, a 105 year old complex featuring clay and hard-tru tennis courts (free), professionally supervised day camp/movies for kids 5 yrs to 12 yrs (free) through Aug 15th, tennis clinic for kids 5yr - 12 yrs (free) through Aug 15th, hamburger / malt shop, nature hikes through wooded dunes, 'Sugar Bowl' sand dunes, fishing in Brandy Wine Creek, baseball diamond, playground equipment, etc. ***** South Haven is 6 miles north (and St. Joseph 15 miles south), with numerous events during the summer. Cruise on the 'Friends Good Will' (1812 replica) sailing ship; go berry picking (straw, ras and blue), hike the dunes, bike the Kal-Haven Trail, catch salmon off a charter boat, play golf, visit a petting zoo. Saugutuck, with its serious shopping and over-the-top charm, is about 25 minutes north. ***** Mainly we sleep late, play tennis or walk, swim, eat too much and watch amazing sunsets from the porch. Pretty simple stuff.

Near but not too near......: Near but not too near South Haven, ten minutes drive to the north. We're on the beach, with all the other amenities for a family vacation, but away from the noise and crowds.

Like camp ...: Palisades feels like camp, with the woods, trails, tennis courts and beaches from those days, --- and a hamburger / malt shop too. The house, though, is equipped for today.
