The house is in a totally private location but near a village. The summer climate is hot, but the elevated position, with splendid views, brings cooling breezes and at night no air-conditioning or mosquito protection is necessary. The peaceful surroundings will allow you to relax or venture into the completely unspoilt and authentic rural area of pine, eucalyptus and cork oak forests. Sheep, goats, pigs and other animals are around as this is an area of simple rural economy with picturesque ruins of wind mills and houses as well as the prettily painted 'low houses' of the Alentejo. Access by car is good with a short private track leading to the house. You can go from the house either up the hill to the back or down the fields to the village with many wonderful local walks through unspoilt countryside or a pleasant drive to the Atlantic coast which is an untouched nature reserve.
