If you do not like mass tourism, but tranquility in beautiful surroundings near the sea and the beach, but also close to forested hills and mountains than Casa Antonio is an ideal place to stay.
The casa is located almost at the edge of the quiet village Cristelo. From the terrace you have a view on a high wooded ridge. On the west side you look out over the lush plains, forests, the ocean and you can see the mountains of Galicia.
The house is on the street surrounded by high walls so privacy is assured. Around the house are several terraces with seating. Wonderful with a glass of vinho verde (branco) or a glass of vinho tinto enjoying the sun.
The casa is not very luxurious, but cozy and comfortable furnishings.
The not too big living room with a sitting area and dining area located on the seaward side. Here you will find the TV (dish) and audio equipment. The cabinets are the necessary books.
The bedrooms are furnished with a double bed and two single beds. Wardrobes are available.
The bathroom (shower) is also the toilet.
The separate kitchen is equipped with oven, gas cooker, washing machine and large koel-/ijskast. The kitchen adjoins the large terrace which is ideal when eaten on the terrace. Through the kitchen you enter the house because this is the most logical place.
The car can be parked on the view place adjacent parking next to the house.
Cristelo is part of the municipality of Caminha. It is situated in the most northwestern tip of Portugal at the mouth of the Minho River, the border river with Spanish Galicia. The region is known as: Costa Verde, which extends to Porto. Cristelo is a small village built against the hills of the Serra d'Arga. Caminha near by Cristelo is an old fortified town whith a zone function. Besides historical buildings you will find here the necessary shops, restaurants and a few bars. The social event focuses on the main square in the center. From Caminha sails once per hour a ferryboat to Galicia. The Costa Verde has many picturesque towns and villages that are all worth a visit. Some places are eg Vila Nova de Cerveira with a large market on Saturdays, Valenca, border town with old fortress where many textile shops are located, Ponte Lima with the magnificent Roman bridge, Viana de Castelo, beautiful old town with a port by to the ocean, Ancora, resort with a large boulevard and a wide beacht and Moledo Playa, small resort near Cristelo, has also a wide beach. A visit to Galicia is very worthwhile.
Nature in northern Portugal/ Costa Verde isoverwhelming: forests, hills, mountains, rivers and streams. A wonderful area for walking and driving by car to explore the region.
Cristelo is easily accessible by car. From Porto Airport you can drive within an hour Cristelo. The road network is good. There is a train (local train) from Porto to Valenca with stops in Caminha.
The restaurants serve generally good meat and fish dishes. Typically is the Portuguese bacalhau and green cabbage.
