HARTWELL MANOR

I put this vacation together because my husband has ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) and I wanted to get all of the family and friends together one last time for him. Hartwell Manor is the perfect home for a large group to gather to celebrate life and memories. The 7 bedrooms are huge with new mattresses and bedding on all of the 13 beds (I know it says 7 bedrooms in the description, but there are 6 twin beds in two lofts!) Even with a large group in the house, the bedrooms offer quiet solitude if you need some down time. We used the upper kitchen and deck for breakfast and lunch and the downstairs kitchen and screened porch were perfect for cooking out at dinner time. The people in the area are some of the sweetest I have ever met. I needed someone to help get my husband bathed and dressed in the morning. I looked in the phone book and called an agency that didn't do that type of work, but the lady on the phone said she would ask around and call me back. It turned out that our angel "Erin" came from a friend of a friend of a friend who knew someone. She was so gentle and kind. The guests age range was 4 - 86. All but two made it in to the jacuzzi. The game room was a hit with the boys and the girls were the best at fishing. We rented a pontoon boat and did some tubing. Toccao has a great restaurant called Cornerstone, but most restaurants are only open Thursday - Saturday. The house has an incredible sound system which we are now replicating in our own home. The grill is so big you could cook a whole cow on it! I just cannot say enough great things about Hartwell Manor. Everyone who came said it was the best time ever. The owner was very helpful and courteous and did everything we asked to make our stay comfortable and fun.
