Beautiful lake-centric home perfect for large families or executive retreats. Unique design with two-story wall of glass for exceptional lake views. Massive multi-level deck with screen room. Jacuzzi.
Wooded walkway from deck to double-slip covered dock. This is one of the largest homes on the lake - each of the 7 bedrooms has private baths. Additionally there are two separate loft areas, one with four twin beds, the other with two twin beds.
The property is convenient to I85, just 5 miles off either exit 173 or exit 177. A public boat ramp is located within 1 mile of the home.
The pictures speak for themselves - it doesn't get any better than this!
There's nothing like this place for a relaxing annual family reunion. We went with four families including 7 kids between 15 and 21- most said it was our best vacation ever. And this is a crowd that prefers beach vacations (NC Outer Banks). The house is like a luxury hotel but on a quiet finger of a huge lake. We swam across "finger" to state park - nice hiking there. Boathouse has canoe and commercial-grade 4-seat paddle boat. We rented a 28' pontoon boat for a day to explore Lake Hartwell. Explored several islands. Basked on beaches with fish coming right up to us...
But back to the house: grounds are beautiful. We fished, had campfires on lakeshore twice under fantastic star canopy. House has high-end finishes and appliances (maybe a little too high-tech - better instructions for the cooktop would help), huge bedrooms, nice baths. Dining area seats 16 not counting additional seating at the adjacent kitchen bar. Two attic dorms are great for kids, and though they don't have doors, acoustics weren't a problem - the walls and doors to the other bedrooms are very soundproof. That said, living room was so big that it was sometimes hard to hear. We joked that it must have been built by the inventor of Windex due to all the glass. Terrific huge screened porch, several decks (with grille) for readings, conversation. We got a lot of use from separate screened hot tub room with piped-in music. Impressive tree swing at edge of lake. The posted photos don't do it justice - I sent Steve (owner) a few more to add to website. Not many other young adults in the area meant we spent more time with each other - a blessing in disguise. Steve was great. When he was away, he had his very nice neighbor stop by to see if we needed anything. My only hesitation in recommending it for families with small kids is the water being so close - just keep an eye on them.
"Downtown Café" in Lavonia was excellent. Very much enjoyed visit to Greenville for a day - excellent restaurants, nice (if small) downtown, wonderful downtown waterfalls and park. We never got to Anderson. Overall, we were just too busy enjoying the property and the week just flew by - before we knew it, the it was time to leave, but filled with lots of photos and great memories.
This was our 6th reunion location, and by far, the best. The house is incredible, and everything we needed was provided, we didn't lack anything. The inside of the house is HUGE and we (20 of us) were very comfortable hanging out in the living room with lots of extra space. It rained a couple of days off and on, but it didn't slow us down. There is a nice sized screened porch where we hung out and talked. The dock was a favorite place as well...using the owner's paddle boat and canoe, or just jumping off and swimming. I could go on and on about the house and the amenities, but what was even more incredible was that the owner, Steve, emailed me and kept in touch before and after our stay. He was very cordial and accommodating and said if we needed anything, to be sure to call him. Also, there was Ted, a neighbor, who came over the first day to explain things in the house and gave us his phone number to call him if we needed anything at all. Thank you, Steve and Ted, for making our reunion SO very special. Although I like to go somewhere new every reunion, Hartwell Manor now has a very strong pull on all of us, so we may just be back!
This was an awesome week at Lake Hartwell. Hartwell Manor accommodated our entire extended family with plenty of room, all 26 of us. It was equipped with all the basic needs of a real home. We loved staying there and will definitely bring the family back.
This seven bedroom house lived up to all expectations. Gorgeous view and many amenities such as a covered dock, hot tub, lovely deck, screened in porch and great backyard for playing games. The owner was extremely helpful with any minor problems or questions and was great with suggestions for the area. He couldn't have been more accommodating. The restaurants he recommended at Portman Marina on the SC side of the lake were both outstanding (The Galley and Nami). There is a marina within 10 minutes with boat rentals which is a wonderful way to enjoy the lake.
Good for 7 couples and (in the lofts) 6 older children. Would not recommend for very small children or very old people with mobility problems due to the 3 levels of the house and the walk down to dock. Fine for most people. It was helpful to have 2 refrigerators and two stoves for family meals but it did involve a lot of carrying food from one kitchen to the other. We had some minor issues adjusting the thermostats and using the coffeemakers but other than that everything was perfect.
All in all a beautiful house for any large gathering. It was very well stocked with anything one would need. We had a memorable week of good times. Would highly recommend and would rent again.
Another GREAT year at the lake. This is our second visit for our group of 24 (ages 50 - 3). The house has two remodeled kitchens and several upgrades throughout the house which has made it even better. The lake level was low, but there was still deep water at the dock. We had a wonderful time. Thank you Steve (owner) for another outstanding vacation. We look forward to visiting again.
Our family had a wonderful summer vacation at Hartwell Manor this summer! The house is a wonderful gathering spot for a large crowd of twenty four! We had an awesome stay. Steve is so accommodating and is very easy to deal with in making all the arrangements for your stay. Thanks for another great summer vacation!
