Watch the seals while enjoying your favorite drink from the outdoor hot tub. Wander along the private gravel beach. Enjoy a refreshing swim in Union River Bay. Savor the southern views of the Acadia Mountains from the bright and cozy sun room. Downeast Maine doesn't get any better than this! Located in East Surry, this private cottage is located at the end of a road and is just 5 miles from downtown Ellsworth and 25 miles from Acadia/Bar Harbor.

We welcome our Canadian and European friends (Tina parle Francais/Richard spricht Deutsch).

Bring your bikes (local rentals available) to experience the carriage trails of Acadia National Park. Bring your canoe or kayak (local rentals available) to explore the local coves and inlets. Don't forget your rod for some excellent mackerel fishing right from shore. Visit the local seafood market and fix yourself a true Downeast Maine 'lobster feed' (lobster, steamers, corn on the cob). Consider day trips to Blue Hill, Deer Isle, Stonington, Castine, Belfast and Camden (all within a one hour drive). Or simply enjoy the beauty and serenity of coastal Maine with a good book at the water's edge.

Sunny vacation home in quiet but central location

The location of this house is excellent: a few miles outside Ellsworth, so you have easy access to US-1 and shops and to Blue Hill, but at the same time it is on a quiet road which gives privacy and tranquility. The view from the house and the deck is picture-perfect, and access to the water at the end of the yard allows the hardy to attempt a swim. So many beautiful places within an hour's drive that you could fill weeks of exploring.
The house has a modern, open-plan feel and is updated throughout. The owners were exceptionally helpful and friendly, and the recommendations for local businesses that we found in the house were very useful and also led us to friendly people willing to share their ideas of what we should see and do.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

There's no place like Maine

We always have such a relaxing vacation in Downeast Maine and this year was one of the best ever with the nicest weather in memory. In spite of hot, sunny and sometimes humid days we always enjoyed the cool clear nights for sound sleep -- aided by a soak in the spa before turning in. We swam out in front a few days and in Branch Lake some others which was so clear and refreshing -- a well kept secret in W. Ellsworth. We put the lobster pots to good use, and the lobster never tastes better than when you're enjoying the panorama of Union River Bay while you eat!

One of the Best Vacations

We cannot tell you how much we enjoyed our stay here in your home. From the restful sleep and quiet night when we arrived from Baltimore to the rolling thunder and sound of pelting rain on the sky light our last night. It was all wonderful. We kayaked with the seals, hiked local trails, and fished from the bank. Looking forward to coming back next year. One of the most restful yet active vacations we have shared. Thanks so much!

Great Week In Maine!

We had a wonderful week in Maine. The kids loved picking up rocks down by the water and the hot tub was a huge hit. We had beautiful weather and with the open ceilings in the bedrooms and the fan, the temp was perfect sleeping weather. The house is so isolated and quiet, just wonderful. We enjoyed visiting Acadia, Bar Harbor, Pirate Mini-Golf, the Lumberjack Show, and the Outdoor Movie in Ellsworth. Thanks for a great week!

Great Place to Make Family Memories

“A remote, peaceful cottage overlooking a tranquil bay” was the perfect description for this place. We enjoyed the quiet yard and spectacular view. We loved watching the tide come in… and the tide go out. It was a very secluded and restful spot. We kayaked with the seals and played many games of chess. We all enjoyed the hot tub… under the stars, in the rain, in the warmth of the sun, quiet with a book and loud with the entire family of six! We ventured out to Acadia, Blue Hill, Stonington and Brooklin. We cherished our time as a family and this cottage was a great place to make our memories!
