This 2 cottage compound is perfect for an extended family. The inlaws stayed in one and my family stayed in he other. There is plenty of room and easy access between cabins. There was litlle activity on Flanders pond, which is a beautiful lake, even on weekends. That left you to kayak and fish with little disturbance. In general there was silence and solitude, which was nice, but not near as nice as the sunsets. It is close enough to Bar Harbor/ Acadia (40 Minutes) to allow frequent trips. If you like to be away from things this is the pace to be, 15 minutes to town. (Walmart, grocery stores, etc.)
The one main problem we had is with the steps and steep grade to the cabins. One of us had recently broke a leg and could not get around well. Since the neighbor would not allow us to wheel her in from his driveway, my two sons and I had to push/pull her up and down a steep hill in a wheel chair. I would not recommend this place to a peson who has difficulted navigating steps or other mobility issues. Still this is a very nice place with clean conditions. All appliances worked well, very nice for cabins(not an upscale house), screened porches, plenty of living space, but don't expect hottubs spa, etc. A very comfortable, scenic and quiet place to stay for a week. I would stay there again without any reservation.
