Located above the beautiful west coast of Asturias, near the fishing ports of Cudillero and Luarca, Teixidiello is a village on the slopes of the Sierra del Pomar. It was abandoned in the 70s and today restored to its original charm, The Teixu is a stone house with views of the countryside and the sea. You'll be among the privileged few who can enjoy a hidden treasure. Access from the nearest town of San Martin de Luiña is through a beautiful trail through the forest, ensuring peace and tranquility constant.

Teixidiello, a place where there are no asphalt. Just 7 km from San Martín de Luiña. Upon arrival you will find peace and tranquility, waterfalls and streams, forests, birds and the sound of bells across the valley. All this from the comfort of The Teixu, a stone house with all the comforts of home. On the ground floor is a kitchen-living room and a spacious room with bathroom, equipped with shower cabin and spring water. The room has spectacular views. Upstairs there is a twin bedroom. The owners have thought of everything to ensure your comfort and are available if you need anything. The fireplace warms the whole house if it's cold and solar panels provide hot water in abundance.

We encourage you to enjoy the natural surroundings of Teixidiello, accomplishing walking routes, bird and animal watching, plant collecting or sunbathing. However, when the need arises, in fifteen minutes you can find sandy beaches, local restaurants and shops. Luarca Cudillero are the closest port cities and each one offers different activities, opportunities of dining and shopping. San Martin is the first point of contact as you come down from the mountain and there are two good restaurants, bakery, pharmacy, doctor, petrol station (diesel) and post office.Traditional market day in San Martin is Tuesday until 13:00 h. Train passes by San Martin 4 times a day and can be a fun alternative to the car, especially to go to Oviedo, Gijón, Avilés

We were absolutely charmed by our restored shepherds’ house – it was full of character, attractively furnished and really quite spacious. The setting was superb: peaceful and with a breathtaking view down to the sea; it meant our stay combined the best of both being in the hills and enjoying the delights of the coast. It was lovely to stay somewhere our hosts had put so much effort into creating – both in comfort terms and in the attractive and unspoilt look of the houses. The drive up to the ‘village’ on the unmade road was only really a surprise the first time and became completely normal and straightforward every day after that.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Should have stayed here twice as long!

Yes, the cottage is a bit of a trek up a dirt road, but how else can you be where the only sounds are the wind in the trees and cowbells tinkling off the opposite hillside. The view across those hills to the ocean is breathtaking. And, you are not really so far from the rest of the world, just insulated from it. There is lovely beach and charming seaside villages only 15-20 minutes away. Anna and Max are friendly and accomodating and allow their guests privacy while still being available for questions. There are some beautiful walks right from the cottage.

Another reviewer questioned the listing of 2 bedrooms so i will clarify. There is a loft above the living area (reached by a ladder that is almost stairs and the other sleeping area is off the living area with a curtain separating. My kids (10 and 14) were easily able to scramble up and down to the loft but I would have been nervous with very small children. If you need two bedrooms with doors that close and little sound transmission then this is not the place for you. Overall, the cottage is very comfortable and nicely updated.

This is one of the most peaceful places we've ever stayed! If you need a break from your hectic life, it can't be beat.
