The apartment is located in the beautiful village of Castelsardo, one of the villages most 'beautiful in Italy. Castelsardo is located in the northwest of the island of Sardinia, from here you can do several exciting tours: only about 5 km southeast of Castelsardo is the Domus de Janas known as the 'Elephant Rock'. From Castelsardo, are easily reached the Red Island, Santa Teresa, Costa Paradiso and Stintino .. During the summer you can enjoy a magnificent view of the island of Corsica and Asinara. For tourists who want to not only go to the beach, it is possible to make day trips to Alghero and caves of Neptune, the beautiful beach of Stintino, the coast and the Costa Smeralda Paradise.
Old and beautiful center of Northern Sardinia, Castelsardo is one of the finest examples of a medieval town, yet extremely accurate and intact in its original structure, in its narrow streets that climb up the hill until you reach the top, occupied by the majestic castle.
Its name dates back to the mid-eighteenth century, when it replaced to Castell'Aragonese imposed after the Spanish conquest of the island. Its origins, however, are much older: it was the powerful Doria family of Genoa to found about 1000 years ago and called it Castelgenovese. The historic city center is the most interesting and characteristic of the whole country. Its ancient heart retains practically intact all the buildings of the past, including wonderful churches and the stunning castle, which was built on top of the hill which overlooks a wide stretch of coast. Observing it from any angle, the castle exudes always unchanged. The massive walls made this extraordinary work of human virtually impregnable: the daring architecture led in fact to take advantage of the rocky ridges of the hill adapting to it even the windows.
Today the fort houses the museum of Castelsardo dell'Intreccio, dedicated to everything that the expert hands of artisans of Sardinia have learned to build only the humble twisting stems that nature provided.
Walking in the historical center of Castelsardo we can see:
Castle, a medieval houses the Museum of Mediterranean, with complex baskets handmade;
the Church of St. Mary, who retains the famous Black Christ, one of the oldest in Sardinia;
the Cathedral of St. Anthony, built in the sixteenth century Aragonese style, which holds within it a beautiful altarpiece.
