Boat Ramp and Fishing: Wells has a free public boat ramp on Algonquin Drive. Bring your boat, put it in the water at the ramp and tie it up to the dock at the house for the length of your stay. The lake has yellow perch, sunfish, bass, nice chain pickerel, and northern pike. You can also go up the river which feeds the lake for more fishing. The water is about four feet deep at the end of the dock. Each evening one or two local fishermen will drift by hoping to catch that big one.

Lake Algonquin Rental

Diana Kaye Guilderland, NY
Review Submitted: November 4, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
My husband and I stayed here in the early fall for a weekend. It was amazingly clean and very warm. We felt right at home. I would recommend this place to anyone. We took advantage of the Kayak and Canoe that was at the property. We also did two hikes that were near by. It is a beautiful quiet place. We loved it.

Camp on Lake Algonquin

RebaSue South New Berlin, NY
Review Submitted: October 13, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
Our family just got back from a beautiful fall weekend at this house on Lake Algonquin. The owners have done an amazing job with this house, it is beautiful and comfortable. It has it all, a newly remodeled kitchen, and we love to cook, so we used alot of the dishes, fabulous.
They went out of their way to leave the kayak and canoe in for extra time so that we could use it. We found out one of our kids LOVES kayaking and the other loves canoeing, and since they allowed dogs, we brought along our chocolate lab too! Close to Gore Mtn, we went to a Harvest Festival there and did a local hike in Wells, beautiful Auger Falls. The whirlpool tub was a favorite with the kids as well as myself. The screened in porch was great to have breakfast on! Thanks to the May's for sharing this place with others!

Absolutely Amazing!

A&CK Connecticut
Review Submitted: August 19, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This property seemed too good to be true but it was good, in fact it was great, and it is true! How rare to find a vacation rental that is so lovely, in such a spectacular location, with such great views, right on the water, with amazing amenities, and allowed us to bring our kids and our dogs! The owners were responsive to all of our questions prior to our arrival and have gone out of their way to provide resources and information about the surrounding area. This is the perfect location to do as much or as little as you want. There are beautiful hikes and walks close by and it is within a comfortable drive to the Adirondack Museum, Lake George, and Saratoga Springs. This is the perfect vacation rental for anyone and everyone!

A slice of Heaven

LHM Southington, CT
Review Submitted: July 30, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
This house was a little slice of heaven. It was beautifully decorated with high quality furniture and many amenities. It had a beautiful screened in porch with a spectacular view of the lake. The yard was filled with many perennial plants and there were bird feeders everywhere. They had hummingbird feeders in the back yard & one in the front yard near the kitchen window. There was not a minute that went by and you didn't see a hummingbird feeding on the sugar water in the feeder. We took many pictures of these little birds. The kitchen was filled with everything imagineable even a waffle iron, which we enjoyed a few morning while sitting on the deck enjoying the view. They excepted dogs at the house so we brought our Jack Russell & Sheltie along. They even provided a dog toy box which our 2 throughly enjoyed playing with. There was a walkway lined with flowers that led you down to the dock on the water. The rental included a kayak, canoe & paddleboat, which we used quite often. Our dogs loved going for canoe rides. There was even a dog life preserver for our Shelite to use since we had only brought one for our Jack Russell. The house was filled with beautiful stained glass lamps that were bought locally in the Adirondacks by the owners. There was even a carved wooden bear at the front door to greet us upon our arrival. Before arriving the owner provided us with very detailed paperwork containing very useful information in regards to the house and activities and restaurants in the area. We even received a phone call from the owners upon our arrival to make sure everything was o.k. My husband & I agree that this was our favorite rental within the New England area that we have rented over the years. I shed a few tears as we pulled out of the driveway to return home. This was a true delight and we wish to return next year if it's still available for rent. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Fun on the Lake

kleincat Latham, NY USA
Review Submitted: July 22, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
This home was a great place to vacation. The house is very nice, well taken care of, and the owners were very friendly and helpful. It felt like a home, not your typical rental. Everything that you could want is there, tv, internet, and a pretty lake! Not far from a well stocked general store, and walking distance to a public beach. It was a great, quiet, relaxing week on the lake, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a nice week at the lake without the rustic aspect that most "camps" have.
