Our recently renovated Irish farmhouse exudes a feeling of space and easy living. Thoughtful touches and soft muted tones mixed with the natural elements of wood, slate and stone and contemporary touches of glass and chrome combine with modern conveniences to create a relaxing and comfortable home-from-home.

The Bedrooms

There are three beautiful en-suite bedrooms that will accommodate 6 people in luxury. We can also sleep two additional guests on comfortable fold away z-beds as well as provide a cot for any of our littler guests.

The two ground floor bedrooms both have zip link beds that can turn from super-king size beds to twin beds. This flexibility means that whether you are a family or a group of friends the accommodation can be arranged to suit your needs. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

Outside of July and August either one or two of the bedroom suites can be closed off to provide the perfect sized accommodation for 2 or 4 people. Again please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

The bedrooms all have fantastic views and are beautifully appointed with comfy beds and soft cotton bedding. The en-suites all have baths and powerful showers, fluffy bathrobes and are stocked with luxury toiletries.

The entire ground floor of the house is gently warmed by underfloor heating.

The Living Spaces

The open plan contemporary living spaces provide a feeling of space. The large kitchen/dining room is very well equipped with a range cooker with double oven, grill and wok burner, a microwave, large toaster and an American fridge/freezer with an iced water dispenser. The utility room has a washing machine, separate tumble dryer and drying facilities. The living room is spacious and light with high vaulted ceilings, wood burning stove and large sliding doors that look out across the valley below. For your entertainment we provide Sky TV, a DVD player, a radio with iPod dock and unlimited WiFi. There is also a separate study.

Outside, there is also a large barn perfect for washing, drying and storing your bikes, kayaks and surf boards.

The cottage is extremely peaceful and designed for easy living so whether you decide to stay nearby or head out and explore all that the Ring of Kerry has to offer... you will have a comfortable home from home to return to.

We had enjoyed many holidays and short breaks to the region so in 2006 we started to look for a permanent base along our favourite stretch of the Ring of Kerry.

Despite being a little run down (see renovation photos on our web site) Valley of the Hare instantly captivated our imagination as the location and views are 'to die for' and the buildings are full of history and character.

The cottage is the result of a great deal of careful thought and hard work.

We love it...and are very happy to share it with you.

The views out across the valley with Kenmare Bay and the Beara Peninsula in the distance are timeless. Watching the skies change from the warmth of the sofa by the fire in the living room is hypnotic and truly relaxing.

With fantastic walking on your doorstep and the lovely pubs in Sneem serving great food there is little more you need for a well deserved break away.

Valley of the Hare is a luxury holiday cottage with a unique rural location in the heart of the Kerry Geopark which offers excellent privacy and fantastic access to hill walking yet is equally well located to explore the world famous Ring of Kerry coastal drive and to enjoy the famous Irish pubs in the pretty village of Sneem.

Explore the beautiful market town of Kenmare, walk the Kerry Way, play golf on the challenging links course at Waterville or in the grounds of the equally famous Parknasilla Resort.

Stroll on the stunning Derrynane Beach, tour Valentia Island and be mystified by the scale of the Skellig Michael monastery and the Staigue Ring Fort.

Killarney National Park is not to be missed with the famous Ladies' View, Ross Castle and Muckross House at it's heart.

Finally the Gap of Dunloe is a timeless mountain environment which opens up an endless number of hill walking and mountaineering possibilities - Climbing Carrauntoohil, Ireland's highest mountain, being one of the highlights.

We can help advise you on the best local walks as well as help arrange guides for longer walks, climbing and deer stalking. Ghillies can also be arranged as the area has some of Ireland's finest fly fishing.

Notes

  • 1/ Booking Policy
    We operate a minimum one week (Sat – Sat) stay during July and August and a minimum 3 night stay throughout the rest of the year. Further details can be found on our ‘Availability’ page.

    2/ Check-in/out Times
    Guests may check-in between 4pm and 6pm. If you will be arriving after 6pm, please let us know. We ask that all guests vacate the property by 10:00am on the day of departure.

    3/ Occupancy
    The maximum occupancy for the property is 6 people. For larger groups, 2 additional people can be accommodated on z-beds.

    4/ Confirmation
    All reservations made through our online booking system are provisional until confirmed by the owners.

    5/ Deposit
    A booking deposit of 25% (to the nearest Euro) of the holiday cost is required to confirm a reservation. All reservations made through our online booking system are provisional until confirmed by the owners. Provisional bookings are held for a maximum of 7 days. All payments must be made in Euros.
  • 6/ Final Payment
    The full balance of the total holiday cost (balance + security deposit) is payable not later than six weeks before the holiday begins. If the full balance is not paid on time we reserve the right to cancel the holiday, in which case, the deposit will be forfeited.

    7/ Security Deposit
    As the property is fully equipped and furnished to a high standard, a security deposit of €200.00 is required in case of any breakages or damage.
    This will be added to the balance payment six weeks before your holiday commences. If there are no breakages or damage, the security deposit will be refunded in full within 14 days after your holiday is completed.

    9/ Cancellation Policy
    If you have to cancel your holiday for whatever reason, we will do our best to re-let the cancelled booking and refund your rental in full less an administration fee of €50. If however we do not succeed we reserve the right to make the following cancellation charges:
  • 42 to 22 days - 50% of the total rental
    Less than 21 days - 100% of the rental
    A minimum cancellation charge of €50 applies

    10/ Pets
    Pets are welcome by prior arrangement at an extra cost of €20.00 per pet to cover the additional cleaning. Please note that the property is surrounded
    by farmland with sheep and cows, so your dogs must be kept under control at all times. Please contact us directly if you wish to bring a pet on holiday.

    11/ Smoking Policy
    Smoking is not allowed anywhere within the property. Failure to observe this policy will result in an additional charge of €100 for cleaning carpets, curtains and upholstery
