Centro Storico (Old Rome) Apartment Rental Photos and Description
Gorgeous two-bedroom with terrace overlooking the Tiber max 4 people
Elegant apartment in Piazza Navona and Piazza di Spagna with its stunning views over the Tiber River, Castel Sant'Angelo and the Ara Pacis. It 'been renovated with great attention to detail and comfort. On the fourth floor of a stately building has a bedroom with a balcony, a kitchen, a living room with 2 single sofa beds and a dining area with a beautiful terrace The entire apartment has lots of light and wonderful affaci on the Tiber. .il Modern bathroom with shower.
The prior (and only) review was unduly harsh. This apartment worked well for our family (2 adults, 2 small children). It is centrally located, but at the same time, the neighborhood is largely residential and very quiet (we had no noise problems whatsoever). It is difficult for me to conceive of a location in Rome’s center which is more convenient but just off the beaten path. The location, I think, is its greatest asset.
The building is easy to reach by Taxi. It can also be reached by buses that stop nearby. The closest Metro stop is Spagna, so I would not plan on arriving by Metro. the building has an elevator.
I did not find any fault with the management of this apartment. All our dealings were very courteous and professional. Arriving was not difficult, and the person who met us was friendly and helpful. It probably helped that I speak some Italian, but I speak it quite poorly, so I don’t think anyone else will have trouble communicating.
The kitchen is fine - typical for a small apartment in a city - better actually, it has a washing machine and dishwasher – a godsend. We used the kitchen for breakfast and a couple of lunches and snacks and it was absolutely fine. There is a range (no oven), microwave, refrigerator, and toaster, and it is stocked with utensils, plates, glasses. Really, unless you plan on spending your stay in Rome making pasta fatto a mano, the kitchen is absolutely fine. The prior visitors left basic supplies (as did we when we left), but obviously, we had to get our own food, coffee, toilet paper, etc. I have never rented an apartment or house where the owner stocked these items, so this was perfectly normal to us. The bedroom is separated by two sliding wall sections – they are substantial, but the bedroom does not close off completely from the rest of the apartment. This was ideal for our small children, but, say, two couples should consider privacy needs.
Management provided some information about the area, but regardless, you can find a supermarket, at least 3 pizzerie (two very good ones) and 5 restaurants (including some of the best pasta alla gricia in all Rome), a cash machine, grocery store, butcher shop, bakery (cookies and bread), and several gelaterie all within 5 blocks, so if you don’t "come prepared", you will end up falling over whatever you are looking for shortly after leaving the apartment.
Without hesitation, I would stay here again.

VRBO, from HomeAway
Families with Young Children,
First, I should say that the property was very clean, well maintained and in an extremely central location on the Tiber. It is not "2 steps from Spanish Steps" at all, however, and unless you go in the dead of winter, you won't have much of a view of the Tiber as there are trees blocking what would otherwise be a panoramic vista.
I arrived at the planned time around 6pm and after ringing for a while, was greeted not by Laura, with whom I had been emailing, but by the owner (?) who didn't introduce herself, didn't speak English and didn't trouble herself to help me with my bags. I arrived the day before my boyfriend with a fair amount of baggage. Not that I expected her to heft my duffel, but perhaps my small backpack? Not a brilliant welcome.
The apartment is as it appears but do note that there is no way to close off the living room from the bedroom entirely. It gets great light but also fairly epic traffic noise at all hours - we resorted to ear plugs and sleeping pills.
The kitchen is very rudimentary but adequate, there were no basic supplies like coffee though Laura brought me some the next day, and we had to struggle to get enough towels for two people, not to mention an ongoing battle for toilet paper. We finally gave up on that one and bought our own. I'm not sure how two rolls for two people for seven days makes sense and when weighing the cost of providing more against the rather cheap and icky feeling of inadequate customer service, were I the owner, it would be a no brainer.
There is no info in the apartment other than a map of nearby grocery stores and a bakery, so you had better come prepared. In summary, what you see is what you get on this one, plus noise, minus views, and without any warm or fuzzy assistance from the management.
Should I return to Rome, I think I will look elsewhere though for some, this apartment may be adequate.

Owner's Response: As I'm used to do with all other reviews posted from our guests , my answers always start thanking them for the time they spent leaving honest memories, suggestions and impressions of our property.
I'm sorry that you have not appreciated the courtesy with which we answered to your 26 emails that preceded your arrival. We had clearly explained that in the house we provide all linen , bed linen, cleaning products for any , let's take a small supply of basic necessities, but then everyone has to clearly provide for their needs .Sorry, but we can not give a hotel service ! We try to make you feel at home, that's why we still care to bring coffee, or what you have requested , however promptly.
We still wanted to reassure you that even in summer you'd have a view of the Tiber, not only now while the trees are bare , because the apartment is on the 4th floor of a building where each apartment has ceilings 4 meters , so the view is still taller than the trees and the noise , with storm windows , comes very muffled .
Obviously Rome is a city very eventful , where it is difficult to meet the peaceful silence of nature
We truly regret that you did not feel that our apartment level were where it should be. We pride ourselves our ensuring that every guest is looked after, with the most care. Our daily effort is to welcome and personalize each single stay, with individual preferences and wishes.
Top! Wir kommen gerne wieder!
Ideally located in the heart of the shopping street Via Condotti, one step away from the ateliers of the most famous designers. Walking in a few minutes you can reach the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona. And, for any stop, restaurants, bars, pubs, wine bars, taverns, pizzerias and trattorias They will not give up anything of tasty Italian dishes!
At 50 meters even grocery stores and one supermarket.
