The name “Mitte” says it all. This district is the historical heart, the
“Middle” of Berlin, the absolute city centre.
Mitte is the offspring of Berlin. It is located next to the districts
Tiergarten, Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauer Berg, and Wedding. In
Mitte, you can find a great number of museums, and by far the most
numerous sightseeing spots like the Friedrichstrasse, the Museumsinsel,
Alexanderplatz, Potsdamer Platz, Unter den Linden, the Berlin Dome, the
Oranienburgerstrasse, Checkpoint Charlie, and of course, the
Brandenburger Tor (just to name a few).
The apartment “Mitten-Drin” is located at the Torstrasse, in the Mitte
district.
The Torstrasse starts out at the Prenzlauer Allee and takes its course
alongside the Schönhauser Tor, the Rosenthaler Platz to the
Friedrichstrasse, where it finally ends at the Oranienburger Tor. You
stay in the Torstrasse next to the Rosenthaler Platz, right next to the
U-Bahn station. From there, you have an excellent public transport
connection to the rest of the city.
Just a walking distance away, you can find a great number of restaurants
and bars, which never seem to close. North from the Rosenthaler Platz,
there is the Volkspark am Weinberg, and around the corner the Volkspark
Friedrichshain, the Hackescher Markt, and the park Tiergarten.
It is also an amazing district for shopping and for strolling through
the many yards with their interesting galleries (Hackesche Höfe at the
Rosenthaler Strasse). Additionally, those among you who love a
spectacular nightlife, most likely will be pleased with what Berlin has
to offer. Clubs like the Tape, the Weekend Club, Watergate, Tresor, and
not to forget the Uberclub Berghain seem never to have heard of closing
hours. Once you’ve been here, you‘ll understand why Berlin is the
world’s capital of music.
Mitte for sure is the best place to be, especially for those who visit
Berlin for the first time. This is simply because here you can find the
best of Berlin.
