Lombardy - Lake Como Area:
The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.
Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries.
It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations.
All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.
Warming, in spring and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.
The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra).

Guestbook comments from the manager
First of all I want to thank you for all the information and interest you have had for making our holiday so nice and comfortable as possible. Me and my family have rented houses in Europe every summer for the past ten years, and I have never had so good communication and information from anyone before.
In that you have the best of service to your customers. Thanks again.
The property was the best we have rented so fare, and we have rented houses about that size and price in Italy, France and England before but never had the service you have shown from anyone else. When we have rented properties before there has been a procedure with examining the property before we left. We are very thankful that we didn´t have to do so this time. Its always difficult to match the examination and our leaving for the airport since we have a long journey back home and often have to leave very early in the morning when no examinator is awake.
Your mails with information made us plan and explore the Internet for more "what-to-se-and do" in that area. It made us imagine our trip in our minds, so we have had a lot of planning and discussions in the family several weeks before we left. We are a family that do things by our own so we didn´t visit you in Menaggio for information or help, and had so much to explore in the Como area so we didn´t find the time to pop in just to say hello. We went to Milan twice, to Lugano, to the mountains of Madesimo, to Bergamo Alta, to se the Iron crown in Monza, we went on a mountain hiking just to "feel" the Alps and some other journeys like visiting Como around the lake. We also had som lovley hours by the pool every day the weather was sunny and went jogging up the hill in Domaso several mornings. Wonderful wiews. Never had so refreshing jogging tours before. The weather was, by the way, very kind to us. Only one rainy dag.
We have nothing to complain about and could think of coming back to Lake Como, and if we do so, we will certainly contact you för renting a property for our holiday. My husband has even started talking about bying a property in Lake Como district in the future.
Best wishes to You and the team.
