Enjoy this beautiful 1990 constructed post and beam home nestled in the woods on a private five acre retreat. This home has cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors throughout, an open floor plan with lots of windows. The first floor bedroom has a queen-size bed and views through the woods to the water. There is a half-bath on the first floor. Walk upstairs to a private, spacious loft with two twin beds and a full bathroom. Watch the change of the water on this tidal cove (11 ft tidal change). Swim at high tide off granite ledges and enjoy low tide walks along the shoreline. Your stay includes all bed linens and bath towels.

Acadia National Park is a treasure to explore. The Schoodic Peninsula area of Acadia is more remote, less traveled, yet equally as spectacular as the Mount Desert Island area. This rental house is a 30 minute drive from each of these Acadia National Park locations.

Relaxing retreat

The house's location on a quiet dead-end road is very secluded, but Ellsworth and Acadia are just a short drive away. The tidal harbor right out the back door is fun to paddle around on or just sit beside and enjoy the scenery. The open layout of the house is very nice. Lots of windows provide a bright place to enjoy even when you can't be outside.

In Ellsworth, I recommend Cleonice for dinner (excellent food and Tapas menu) and the Riverside Cafe for breakfast or lunch. The John Edwards Market is a good place to get high quality food for dining back at the house. In Bar Harbor, the Eden Vegetarian Cafe is excellent, even if you aren't a vegetarian. The Town Hill Bistro is outside of Bar Harbor, and worth the trip.

If you are looking for a relaxing place for a vacation, but with the option for many activities near-by, this will definitely work for you.

Our tenth anniversary trip.

As my husband and I spent our honeymoon vacationing in Maine, we decided to celebrate our tenth anniversary there as well!

The owners were very nice to deal with, and the home was everything as advertised. It was very peaceful with no neighbors in sight! There were many "extras" that you don't normally find in a rental; supplies of paper products, laundry facilities including soap, a wood burning fireplace with a supply of wood, a canoe at your disposal, and even a surprise bag of cookies in the cupboard!

There are several good restaurants in the area and places you can buy fresh lobster if you wish to cook them yourself. We especially liked Helen's restaurant for their lobster dinner for $12.95, and the lobster roll at Jordan's Snack Bar was delicious!

I would recommend this rental to anyone wishing to spend time in the Acadia Park area. There are many scenic day trips you can make, or just spend the time at the home. We truly enjoyed our stay here.
