This two bedroom, two bath, hand hewn log cabin is suspended in the air over a large rushing creek. Located 15 miles from Murphy, the cabin offers the best in quiet luxurious living. From the plush bedding to the jetted tub to the Hot Springs hot tub on the lower deck, you may not want to ever leave.
A large stacked rock fireplace creates a warm environment during cooler weather. The upstairs deck is perfect for morning coffee and evening wine. The cabin overlooks Beaverdam Creek, long known to locals as one of the best areas to flyfish for Rainbows. There are steps to the creek that makes it easy to enjoy swimming and fishing.
The cabin is in Vineyard Creek, a small private log cabin development that includes an actual working vineyard, a common area on Beaverdam Creek, and a stocked pond that's fun to cane pole fish. There's no golf course, no tennis courts, or a lot of other people. There are wild turkeys, hummingbirds, and an occasional shy deer. Boating on Lake Hiawassee is a beautiful way to view the surrounding mountains. Shook's marina, five miles from the cabin, offers boat rentals. Grocery stores are 30 minutes away, so plan accordingly.

Like camping in the woods on a creek, but you got all the comforts of home.
Wow, i dont know where to begin. I just arrived back home from one of the best vacations i have ever been on. I stayed at Terry's Cabernet Cabin 4 days and there was nothing that could have made it any better. The rooms, bed, jacuzzi, fireplace, creek, decks, supplies, linens, kitchenware...all were perfection and nothing was lacking. The cabin is secluded and i did not see one car or one person the entire time i was there, which for me was perfect. I had planned on going out and doing some sightseeing but after arriving i burrowed in with my books, laptop, some food and adult beverages and did not leave. I am already planning a trip back in 2015 :) The road to the cabin was no problem whatsoever if you drive the correct direction...they are narrow yes, but not dangerous at all. The leaves and trees and shrubbery in fall are part of the beauty....i dont think i have ever seen anything so beautiful as the colors of fall in North Carolina. It made my trip that much more special. Awesome ! Terry, i will be in touch soon to make my next reservation.
we had a wonderful time! The cabin is everything and more than described. Location, furniture, view...,. and the beautiful stream!!!
We came to relax and that is what we did, had we not needed supplies we would have been perfectly happy to stay there the whole week and never leave.
The drive up the mountain is beautiful but hold your breath the first time you go down to the cabin...after that its easy.
Terry was a pleasure to deal with and we recommend this hideaway to all.... just not the week we are coming back please, we are planning it already!
The Cabernet cabin was everything the reviews said it was.Maybe better... My wife & i stayed for a week , and truly hated to leave. The furnishings, fixtures, and appliances all worked flawlessly.
As for all the humbug about the driveway being impassable, don't let that worry you. Yes, it is different than your everyday driveway but it is safe. We were driving a 2 wheel drive mid-size SUV, and had no problems.
If the Lord is willing.... We WILL BE BACK !
This was our 2nd stay in a month at Cabernet Cabin. The place is relaxing and homey, like the lake or mountain summer cottages I grew up with, but fitted out more like a home than those home ex front hand me downs filled cottage furnishings I remember. The access seems a bit daunting the first time you drive in, but is actually more worry than chore, but I would stil not do a snow season visit without 4WD and dandy tires. One older couple in the the community uses a golf cart to navigate around on the vineyard roads. The appliances were nice, and the Owner really strives to keep everything clean and well maintained. My son loved the hot tub after a day of fishing (I opted for the main bathtub's Jacuzzi vents for the same purpose). Speaking of the fishing, the stream at the cabin (along with several others in the area) can be treacherous to wade because of its rocky substrate, but others, of the 12 or so easily reached area streams are less taxing. We dined on fresh caught trout while we were there. The lake is quiet and not flooded with water skis and wave runners, and the town of Murphy sports a really top tier Walmart Supercenter and dining and other shopping locations enough to suit. Local produce and fresh farm eggs are available at country stores thruout the area. We cancelled a zip line plan about 45 minutes away because of a line of storms that moved thru, but that opportunity is always an option. Cell phones generally don't work in many parts of the area (including at the cabin), but the land line and the WiFi at the cabin do, and we were always able to stay in touch as much as we wanted with the "outside" via email. We definitely will book future stays at Cabernet Cabin.
We love the Murphy area and try to get up that way at least 2-3 times a year, so we are fairly acquainted with the area and have been looking for the perfect spot to stay every time we go..... after many trials with other commercial properties we have found the perfect place. From the moment you pull up to the cabin, you can't help but feel relaxed. Very clean and absolutely everything you could possibly need.... even had starter logs for the fire place. I could not fathom the idea of staying any place else. The owner was top notch too in the way of sending the most accurate amd concise directions. We will be back, just next time it will be for a week. Thank you Terry
I can't say enough about this cabin or area! The cabin is delightful, was extremely clean, well maintained, and contained everything we could possible want/need. You could tell that a lot of thought went into the decor. After looking through the reviews and seeing that they were predominantly 5 stars, I took a chance. I'm glad I did. I have already recommended this cabin to friends and family. It was well worth the stay. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed.
