This is a lovely house with glimpses of Hog Creek (which leads to the fabulous private community beach known as Clearwater Beach & Marina). Sorry about the lack of greenery on the trees right now in the main photo, but the photos are new and it is still early spring. House was rented for 5 years to the same summer tenant from the UK. This is the first year she and her tweenies are not returning. So grab this house!
Seriously, let's talk about the deck because that's where the action is in this upside-down contemporary house. Does the deck look dangerous because it is on the second floor (along with the living room, kitchen, dining room, two guest bedrooms and a bath)? Actually, the deck is childproofed. You can't see it easily in the photos, but there is a fine wire mesh from the bottom of the railing to the top to keep kids from climbing up the rails or falling through the rails. We raised three kids here and didn't lose one over the deck! Breathtakingly beautiful sunsets from the deck. We BBQ every night on the deck.
What's also really nice about this house is that the huge master bedroom is on the ground floor and very private. There is work desk, wet-bar in alcove, and sliding glass doors opening onto a landing with views of a wooded town preserve--the perfect spot for a cup of coffee or tea in the morning. Separate laundry room down the hall. How nice is that!
A quick walk, drive, or bike ride to large, private, lifeguarded beach, complete with picnic area and marina. Great for watching the sunset or fishing off the jetty. Just 15 minutes to Village of East Hampton or Amagansett. Just 5 minutes to Springs General Store or Maidstone Deli for The New York Times.
WIfi? Of course! Netflix. Roku.
This house is a HOME and has everything you might need. Travel light, as we say.
I rented Ms. Scanlon's house in the lovely Clearwater Beach section of East Hampton, NY while working on my book "Roger Maris: Baseball's Reluctant Hero." It was the perfect environment: peaceful, pretty, easy walk to the beach, a friendly and accommodating landlord, easy distance to restaurants, shops, movies, etc. The book turned out well, and part of that was because of the inviting house and its surroundings.
I spent the most idyllic month this past October at this little bit of paradise in East Hampton. We enjoyed the fabulous woodlands views from the open and airy living room a with its romantic wood-burning fireplace that welcomed us after a bracing walk on the nearby beach. The house itself was impeccably clean and provided every amenity we could possibly need including internet access and satellite/cable TV. The owner couldn't have been more accommodating and efficient. We shall definitely return to this very special place and highly recommend it to others.
The house is located in a very nice and quiet area at a very short distance (less than 3 minutes driving) from a private bay beach with lifeguard, where you can see little school of fishes while standing on the shore, fabulous for kids! The house is a comfortable size, nicely ventilated. We enjoyed the wrap-around porch: we barbequed and ate "al fresco" every night. This house has all the comforts a family would need with a nice big kitchen and you're only about 15 minutes from the Village of East Hampton.
Stayed at the house this spring. It's a special house. I love the deck,
and the house is light and airy. The house is a real cut-above the usual
summer rental. I had a great time! The owner was terrific. Actually left us
a bottle of champagne in the refrigerator.
What makes this rental a cut above the rest? It's a year-round home, lovingly cared for and completely equipped. It's a quick walk or bike to private marina and bay beach. Ten to 15-minutes to town and beaches of Amagansett and East Hampton. One mile to The Maidstone Deli for The Sunday New York Times!
It has rave reviews.
House is surrounded on three sides by a wildlife preserve. In the winter months you can see Hog Creek from the living room and deck.
The deck on the second floor wraps around the living room. You might think it is not safe for children, but there is a fine mesh along the railing from top to bottom that keeps children perfectly safe and contained, no matter what age -- toddler to teen.
Pool? No. We never wanted one. We like going to the beach, AND we never wanted to worry about unattended children having an accident. The woods works for us.
