We enjoyed our stay and will return!

This was the first time we’ve ever rented a vacation home so I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t be as nice as pictured, but I can honestly say that the house is exactly as described and pictured. The house was clean and it’s obviously well maintained inside and out. Hazel was a pleasure to work with and she returned our security deposit promptly.
It was so convenient to be able to do laundry during the week. It meant we didn’t have to pack as much. The kitchen is well stocked. The only thing we needed, but couldn’t find was a baking sheet so we just went to the store and bought a cheap one to use while we were there. Having internet access was helpful. We used it to keep up with email and check on directions, hours, etc. for local attractions. I LOVED the queen mattress. It was very comfortable. Wish I knew what brand it was so I could get one for home! We also loved having the DVD player. We had brought a few movies with us for family movie nights and we watched a couple (Shrek & Shrek II) from the movie library. Some more family movie selections would be nice.
Downtown is only a few minutes away and Acadia’s Hull’s Cove entrance is literally right around the corner. Since our main purpose for visiting the area was to spend time in Acadia the location was absolutely perfect.
We thought the restaurant across the street was a bit overpriced, but that is typical of establishments in touristy areas. We also felt the food at the sandwich shop was just so-so. However, the restaurant, sandwich shop, gas station/convenience store and post office were definitely convenient. We did enjoy our meals at The West Street Café as well as Stewman’s Lobster Pound.
My advice is research before you go. There is so much to see and do in the area. We spent a week here and did not have time to see and do everything we wanted. We definitely want to return to this area and when we do we’ll be looking to stay at Cove Cottage again.
As previous reviewers have mentioned the only draw-back is all the traffic noise from Route 3. The road is busy all the time; well into the evening and wee hours of the morning. We could not sleep with the windows open at night because it was just too loud (we live in the country.) While it would have been nice to sleep with the windows open and enjoy the ocean breeze it is not a big enough of a draw-back to deter us from staying here again. I would recommend Cove Cottage to anyone looking to stay in the Bar Harbor area.
