Lobster Paradise

Keely Smith Columbia, South Carolina USA
Review Submitted: September 27, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Our 12th annual sisters get away placed us in magical Wickford. From start to finish, contact with the owner was easy & informative. Questions were answered & any concerns were cleared up immediately. The property is exactly as described. The cottage is located in a beautiful residential area within walking distance of Wickford. Don't miss morning & evening strolls along the shore line. Sunrises & sunsets are restorative. The homes are well maintained & many have unique & colorful landscaping. We loved having a glass of wine on the front patio surrounded by gracious evergreens which provided shelter & privacy to suit our needs. The neighbors were friendly & we felt extremely safe during our entire stay. We all love to cook & the kitchen provided ample equipment for this. The locaton is excellent. It's an easy drive to Newport where we avoided the tour buses & walking groups. We are self-guided folks. This was easy to accomplish with a little help from the tourist center in Newport. After a few minutes of explaining that we wanted no tours, the agent assisting us bent over backwards to give us the info we needed. He suggested 2 mansions within walking distance where self-guided tours were available. He also provided us with names of 3 restaurants which he assured us were not the usual tourist destinations. Off we walked to The Elm a romantic turn of the century mansion that thrilled us. Walking certainly worked up an appetite so our first taste of lobster in Rhode Island occurred at "The Mooring", a fabulous restaurant on the waterfront. It had to be the most perfect day ever so there was a wait for a table on the outside terrace as no one wanted to eat inside. The wait at the bar was fun & soon we were seated & consuming the most succulent lobster croissant imaginable. Oh, but you haven't eaten a lobster roll the natives said. So off we went to Lobstermania in East Greenwich (recommended by our rental owner) to discover the local flavor. A windy day but again outside eating a must. Delicious describes the lobster roll but the lobster croissant at The Mooring is our overall winner in all things lobster. Another lobster meal was had at Duffy's Tavern in Wickford. Not a fancy place, but the stuffed lobster for a very reasonable price is a MUST! Don't miss Block Island; the Inn at Shelter Harbor (fab food); Federal Hill in Providence (Tony's to resupply your pantry) ; Watch Hill and shopping in Wickford. A vacation to remember!

Madison Avenue Rental

Mary and J.R. West Palm Beach, Fl
Review Submitted: September 13, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This was our first experience renting in Rhode Island and it turned out to be very positive! This house was exactly as the pictures show. It has a very pleasant open floorplan and is very comfortable. The location is outstanding. The area is surrounded by beautiful views and is a wonderful neighborhood for walking. The town is great for fun shopping and leisurely dining overlooking the water with all the sailboats. My husband took our 5 year old granddaughter to the pier in town, where she caught her first fish! All in all, it was a great experience and we would definitely do it again. The house had all the conveniences you need to feel at home. The owners are very nice and easy to deal with. We definitely recommend it!

Our stay at Wickford RI

eam59mam Berlin, CT
Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Typically you rent a place and unless you actually see it you hope for the best. We rented this house because because the pictures showed it was open, roomy and bright. We got there and it was exactly as described in the write up. The home is clean, bright and roomy and most of all comfortable. We were a total of 5 people and 2 dogs and there was enough room for everyone. Lots of closet space. The location is convenient to all other beaches in the area and we found the town beach to be quite relaxing. We shopped locally for groceries. We took daily walks with our dogs and neighbors are friendly. We would rent this place again.

Pleasant Vacation Spot

Gibbie Lowell, Ma
Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Home in a very nice neighborhood. Very quiet. Enjoyed walking the neighborhood, people very pleasant. Property was clean and well maintained. The view around the area very nice. Two good restaurants on RT 2 North. Richards Pub and Greggs. Close to Newport, Jamestown and Foxwood isn't too far away. Beach good place for kids as you can walk way out, no waves. Barbara

BEAUTIFUL HOME ON ONE FLOOR WITH ORIGINAL ARTWORK

Susan and Bill Ivyland, PA
Review Submitted: October 19, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
This was a very lovely beach home in a quiet neighborhood. Our stay was brief but nonetheless pleasant. The home is very well maintained and has everything one needs for a great vacation. If you decide to cook, the kitchen has everything you will need, except a chef ! We were visited by several family members and everyone commented on the original artwork on display throughout the home. Every room has a couple of nice paintings done by the owner's mother-in-law, who is obviously talented. The owner is helpful and reasonable.
We would definitely like to return, and for a longer stay.
